we have tried to sign him to a new contract though. It seems like he just doesn't want to sign one.

Get him sold to the first acceptable offer

he will not extend at Celtic and will run down his contract to ensure a massive signing on fee at next club.

i love the guy but if he will not commit to new / extended contract then get the cash when it is offered.

I think his chance of going to Man Utd, which seemed a stick on earlier in the season, has maybe gone with Moyes getting the job there. I fully expect him to go for Fellaini to fill the massive physical presence role in midfield they need.

    Agreed

We're a selling club, we need the profit and reinvestment. Look at the other players that had great 1st &2nd season with us and then lost value (izzy & kayal) for starters. Sell sell sell if good money is offered.

We can debate what constitutes a good offer for him when something concrete comes out :icon_mrgreen:

Personally I think and hope he will still be playing for us next season. But if we were to sell Wanyama I cannot see anything less then about double those numbers making Celtic blink.

  7. Yeah we should be selling him for at least a 20 million transfer fee.

Imagine what we could improve in the squad with that kind of money.

We would be lucky if £5 million was put back into the squad.

  9. Isnt that the reality of it though? I'd like to think that the McGeady money was put back into the squad though. And that same kind of scenario might repeat itself.

If there's 2 years left on his contract I can't see him going for any less than 12 million. For 7/8 i'd rather we just ran his contract down until he leaves for free.

  11. Possibly but I can see him going or about 10 mill and everyone would be happy...

Catch twenty two here cause if we don't sell this summer I think we might have missed a trick with regards to how much we would get in the future unless he set the world alight in Europe again which is a possibility and for that reason I would gamble on the latter

You'd be willing to lose £8million just to have Wanyama for one more season?

I don't think the board would share that view. We could buy 2-3 new players with that money.

If he goes it will be for £10 million max I would imagine. I'd love to get more but no-one will pay £15m+ I don't think. Would love to be proven wrong as that is what I value him at, if not more.

I'm not buying all this "Wanyama is staying" patter. He would've signed a contract a long time ago if that was the case, he will be offski this summer.

His performances next season could be the difference in qualifying for the last 16, & beyond.
That could make the club the £8million (and change:86:) back

  16. No chance the club letting him leave for nowt .

If he really wants to stay he should at least sign a contract extension. At the end of the day he's a very good player who will probably attract attention from a whole host of big clubs, regardless of the length of his contract.

I think it was Michu (could be wrong) who was supposedly a target for a few different clubs, yet signed a contract extension with Swansea even though it was rumoured he would be leaving in the summer. If you're a good player who has a lot to offer, a club who has a serious interest in you won't mind paying a good amount for your services.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

In the case of Wanyama he's the sort of player a lot of teams are crying out for; if he bides his time and keeps on impressing everyone then he'll be sure to have a bunch of clubs after him. If he really does enjoy being here and being a Celtic player then he really should do the club a favour and sign an extension.

However, I don’t think a lot of English clubs (only mentioning them because I think the EPL is where he wants to go) will want to pay a Scottish club the 15 million+ a lot of people seem to be asking for. I think the best way to go about it would be to sell him to someone like Arsenal (who will probably be able to sell him on for a decent amount) at a reduced fee but in return for a decent sell on clause.

I don't want him to stay, I'd rather the club cashed in on all the players who see our club as a stepping stone to England

I actually meant bench him completely. The thread on Porto made clear why selling our playing assets at the right time is vital in the long run if we're ever to be successful again on a European level.

  20. Could be a major reson for us progressing into the CL which generated 25 million for us this year ... which I doubt we'd get for the big man. Anyway, say he stayed for another season, he'd still have another year on his contract. Could get about 6-7 for him then. Wanyama was a key player in getting us far in europe, him and sammy ofcourse.

Sure the board could look at it that way $$$$
