They still need a rest though, mentally as well as physically. Since he joined us he's probably played between 30-40 games more than most of our other players.

He's played over 40 games more than Lustig and over 30 more than Stokes since he joined us.

Even when players get an injury it gives them a wee time out for their bodies to relax from the stress of constant training and playing. He's barely ever stopped.

Mulgrew who basically never misses games either has played over 20 games less than Ambrose in the same time.

Izaguirre's the only one who's played close to the games of Ambrose, competitive Ambrose has played 130 to Izaguirres 123.

Mulgrew and Commons are the only other two who've played over 100.

It doesn't really matter who has it hardest; it's just common sense that footballers see their performance levels drop sharply when they don't get sufficient rest. What you are arguing in your post is as irrelevant as arguing that the nutritionist at Celtic should be sacked as (s)he doesn't make any difference because lots of guys work * hard on a diet of black pudding suppers and cans of iron bru. It's just not relevant.

Even Mulgrew has had 3 breaks since Ambrose joined (two summer breaks and one winter break). Look how Izzy's lost some form from just missing one break due to the WC, never mind 3!

Sean , a bit of an exaggeration saying that Ambrose sells the jersey in every single game and contributes to us getting beat . Just my opinion but he was in the centre defence with Virgil which had a record number of clean sheets and a record number of consecutive minutes with no goals conceded. We all know that Ambrose is prone to error but for a centre defender he is exceptionally fast and often uses his speed to recover from his error.

He will come good for us again. I think Ronny wants to remove him from the finality of CB, that way his mistakes wont be so obvious.

    * knows where he fits in though. Probably eventually at CB again funnily enough.

Or if Lawwell has his way then at RB next season. :smiley-laughing002: Joke... :fear:

Took the words out of my mouth. I still don't rate him, give him a 6 month rest I still think we can and need to do better.

I hate him at right back. Looks awkward and doesn't attack at all. 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice should be Lustig, Matthews and Fisher. Efe can sit on the subs bench for a while.

Have you ever played football? It's tiring. You run a lot.

And playing for Celtic must be more mentally tiring than physically tiring. The guy hasn't stopped in two years plus he has to put up with being the scapegoat that some of our supporters need.

And he's probably on about £250 a week knowing our board :smiley-laughing002:

    And he's actually 46.

he does my * in at times:31:.

but fair play to the big * if this is true:50:.you never see him complaining.

surely it would common sense to give him a 2-3 week holiday so he can recharge his batteries.

Sadly true. I know chefs who have worked 70/80 hour weeks for years on a diet of burgers and Jack Daniels and who work incredibly hard. They'd think they'd gone part time in a 9-5 job. Why does it follow from this that a football player's performance won't suffer if he doesn't get sufficient rest, exactly as it would if he were getting inadequate nutrition/sleep, drank too much, etc?

There's just no logical connection and, whatever you think about Efe before, even his fans like myself have been horrified watching him let players run past him, etc this season. Force the guy to take a rest for his own good.

"Because they get a lot of money they shouldn't need to be following the same rules as every other human beings on Earth and not need to rest their bodies"

    It's illogical as *.

Well...bit up and down again for me.

Not the worst we have seen him but really despise him at right back, leaves so much space for the wide men to run into particularly in the 2nd half.

Mcgregor does him no favours what so ever though!! He never helps out defensively and always drifts in field leaving Ambrose wide open! Everything Aberdeen created pretty much came from our right side! Tonev although quiet in an attacking sense today did a lot of good covering to allow izzy forward today and we looked ok down that side. If Ambrose plays at right back and especially with mcgrgor in front of him then we will struggle down that side of the park.

Thought Ambrose was horrible today. Constantly out of position and kept trying to play as CB. They looked most dangerous when playing down the left wing and a big part of that is to do with Efe. I wouldnt have him anywhere near the team if it were up to me.

I thought he done alright today made 2 mistakes with the bad pass back and then not winning the first header for the goal other than that he did alright. I wouldn't have him near the team though.

Unfortunately we have 2 good right backs who can never both be fit at the same time it seems so he has to step in.

Aberdeen got quite a bit of joy down his side, unsurprisingly.
