I just bought GTA 4 from Ebay for the not unreasonable price of £7.50. (Pay Pal went funny and failed the payment 3 times but somehow debited my account those 3 times. The guy did refund it all straight away though.)

I've never played nor even seen GTA 4 in action and I was wondering what everyone thought of it. With 5 on the way soon and getting 4 so cheap I thought it was worth a try. I loved all the versions on the PS2, so is it anything like 3 but bigger, better and much more to do? Any info would be really appreciated because as I said I haven't got a clue about what it's like. Cheers for reading folks...:50:

a lot of people dont like the fact that it's a bit more realistic than San Andreas. There's no jetpacks or anything like that.

Personally, I loved the story. It's much more in depth and engaging a story than SA's gangsta *. Finally getting a non-American protagonist was cool (you play as a Serb) and the GTA humour is still there, even though it's more dark and gritty than previous GTAs

    Thanks...:50:

That sounds pretty cool. In the previous games I was never that bothered about gimmicks like tanks, helicopters and jet packs. I've took next week off cause I still have 2 weeks to take before the end of March and the way my shifts and days of work I have 10 days off. I downloaded through PSN the Simpsons arcade game, Wonder Boy In Monsterland arcade and Monsterworld 4 as well. Looks like it will be a wet miserable week so big bit of hash, pile of junk food and a few decent games on PS3 so it shouldn't be too bad a week off at all...:snack:

Thought it was majorly underwhelming. The missions were generally shocking, not enough variety - just shooting. There were only 2 or 3 missions I can say I properly enjoyed. Nico Bellic was a dull as dishwater character.

I recommend The Ballad Of Gay Tony too - missions are quality and there's a much better vibe about the game.

If I was playing it back in 2008 I'd have told you it was great, these days it feels dated and really plain compared to newer sandbox games like Saints Row 3 and Sleeping Dogs and even Rockstar's own Red Dead Redemption.

I did the same but I bought the complete addition with the Lost and the Damned and Ballad of Gay Tony expansions. Currently playing through the final game and really enjoying it. All 3 have really different missions and story lines which cross paths at various points Pulp Fiction-esque.

Only played through a small part of this before my PS3 corrupted and I couldn't be bothered restarting. I thought I'd give it another go before GTA 5 came out and I have to say it's easily one of the best games of all time. Just finished the bank robbery mission which was incredible.

I found the TBOGT had a better vibe as well. The main game was extremely realistic. Even when Niko gets in a helicopter for the first time he says ''I haven't flown one of these since the war'' Rockstar making the point he already knew how to fly them. Even though it had all the underlying GTA humor I felt the main game took itself a bit too seriously. TBOGT was a welcome return to the over the top madness we expect from GTA.

I loved GTA 4, and the heist mission is incredible.

They are actually focusing more on heists in GTA 5 because of the response to that mission in IV, easily one of the best and most in-depth missions in any GTA game.

Four leaf clover is legendary. In typical rockstar fashion they've taken it up 10 fold! Its cool that more thought and planning will go into a successful heist in V.

Ps. Anyone still play this? I've never really put it down tbh, I do races all the time. Good laugh.

Shooting your way through the subway station then running along the tracks was good. That mission and the one were you had to bust the wee irish guy out of the prison transport were are a couple of the more memorable missions.
