    Let the people sing,
Have to say i am honestly gutted at Rihanna going, has actually got me down the past few days. Ever since T12 ended and they hyped up the big 20th year celebrations i thought Geoff was going to pull a few stormers out the bag along the lines of Bruce Springsteen, Rolling Stones, The Who, Paul Weller, Green Day, Fleetwood Mac(who i think will play Glastonbury) The Strokes, Black keys, etc.

Rihanna is a huge slap in the face to the T in the park faithful in my opinion. Rihanna is suited to a stadium gig and so is the the majority of her fans. Anyone who i know who even likes her is a girl who would not trek through mud for a weekend. And she is often late for her sets and then comes on and mimes half the time, that would not get a good response at T.

Also. the script. Absolutely ridiculous where they are placed in the lineup order in my opinion. Sitting just under the headliners as if they are a bigger pull than the names below them, when will they realise thats not the music the traditional festival goers look for.

I actually like Mumford & Sons, but the disappointment people are feeling is them headlining compared to a big one off 20 year-celebrating act. They probably shouldn't be headlining such a big festival, they haven't been around long enough considering that their second album just released. Above all, the type of music they play is alot better in a tent, they were class in the king tuts tent in 2010, it just won't be the same atmosphere on the main stage.

I already had my ticket so i just have to keep the faith that a few decent names will get announced yet, and its always a good weekend anyway. Plus i know i'll enjoy Alt-J, Jake Bugg, the killers etc. If similar names like Rihanna pop up as headliners for 2014 i will not be back.

There is very little chance the festival will sell out this year (unless Rihanna somehow pulls out and is replaced as i can't see them adding a top drawer 4th headline type act since alot of their budgets gubbed already) What really gets me is they have the cheek to post on their social media pages 'extra-batches' are being released due to 'phenomenal demand'. Don't talk * you know you got it wrong again Geoff Ellis and are having to get the marketing skills out to sell them ya *!

    /Rant :56:

Because they are still on the way up. The acts who should be headlining a 20th anniversary of a once legendary festival should be absolute powerhouses of the music game. Names like The Rolling Stones, U2....Pink Floyd even.

I have nothing against Mumford I just don't think they are close to that level yet.

Beyonce was on before Coldplay and Eminem is one of the highest grossing recording artists of all time.

Why did I think Beyonce headlined. Thanks for the correction.

People are complaining it is a rock festival and current selections don't fit in.

On the same account Eminem doesn't either.

People also complain that they have seen the same bands too often. Eminem has his shot a few years ago and I can't remember him doing any if much new material since.

He has nothing new to bring.

Wasn't The Killers voted as the band most TITP customers wanted this year as well?

I'm not sure the Rolling Stones or Pink Floyd would work at TITP as the age of people there is very low.

Could TITP afford the Stones in the first place? Wasn't their recent gigs over £100 a ticket?

I didn't go last year as looking at the line up there wasn't really enough for me. I could see parts where there wasn't anything worth watching.

Years before I wanted to be in 3 different places at once.

It will be more Olly Murrs, Jessie J and Nikki Minaj again.

We must be getting too old.

Have to agree with you here mate the last 2 years have been * awful for the standard of band on offer. In 2011 I only ventured into the arena on the Saturday and Sunday and seen a grand total of 4 bands. Last year I ventured in all 3 days but still only seen a grand total of 5 bands. In years gone by you'd be rushing between stages trying to see as much of the good bands on offer as possible.

I haven't particularly minded because I've still liked the headline acts both of the years past but when you don't even get excited about the headline acts then it's time to call a day on that festival imo. Leeds it is for me (where Eminem is the only headline act announced so far lol I'm a bit of a fanboy).

3 albums, every one of which critically acclaimed by Rolling Stone magazine amongst others.

    Are they aye? :56:

That'll be why they've headlined twice already and keep getting asked back then?

Anyone that has seen The Killers live, especially in a festival setting, know EXACTLY why they are a headline act.

I don't listen to hip hop, RnB, rap or any of that * and I still think Eminem was absolutely superb.

You don't have to like a particular type of music to appreciate the spectacle and for me Rhianna will be superb. She is the biggest female solo artist on the planet right now, her brand is global.

I am sure if either of them were named as a headliner the place would sell out tenfold.

Although regarding Floyd it would not be Pink Floyd, Gilmour and Mason is who it would be as Waters is still touring the wall and would more than likely not do it anyway.

Gilmour could headline himself easily anyway.

By any chance are you a Killers fan then? :56:

As far as I'm concerned everything they have brought out since Hot Fuss has been wash but that's the thing with music, what's good to one person, is murder to another. Personally don't think they should be headlining but for every one of me there will no doubt be ten ecstatic people.

I am (in fact I fell in love with them in 2005 when they played TITP) but that doesn't remove the fact that; Sams Town, Day and Age and Battle Born have all been received well in music circles.

In fact Sams Town has been voted the most under rated album of all time, which is saying something.

Disregarding the music anyway, their live show is electric and anyone that has seen them live (in particular at a festival) would be a liar if they said they were anything but that.

If Floyd or what is left of them or even Dave himself played at TITP I'd repetedly punch myself in the bollocks just as I did when the scissor sisters covered comfortably numb .

Don't think it'd ever happen anyway though

Nah he would never play it, if anything it would be Glastonbury and even still since Wright died I don't think he would play it without him.

It was a dying wish for Rick Right but sadly he passed away before they could do it.

The fact that bands like Mumford and Sons are now seen as headline material puts me off going. I personally think they are awful, although in all honesty there are very few bands that come out these days that I like. The kinds of bands id like to see headlining would be Pearl Jam, Queens of the Stoneage, Rolling Stones etc, bands that are worth paying the money you have to. Mumford and Sons etc belong on the smaller stages or lower down the bill for me.

With regards to the Killers, Hot Fuss was half decent, everything since is ear pollution to me, the singer's voice is brutal. Being critically acclaimed by a music magazine means * all to me lol.

If I had a choice of other bands/artists id like to see itd be Mogwai, Explosions in the Sky, Broken Social Scene, Pearl Jam, Malcolm Middleton or Arab Strap Reunion/Boards of Canada, Aphex Twin.

Plus decent techno acts in the Slam Tent, Liebing, Loco Dice, Carola, Beyer, Raresh, Hawtin, Vath.

Haven't been to T in 3 years as I was abroad and reckon Ill be heading to a Euro festival instead of T this year if ive not left the country completely.

I can't disagree with you mate, I have seen them live 3 or 4 times at various festivals and they do put on a good show. I think my lack of excitement comes from the fact I have seen them so many times and, as I've mentioned, there music since Hot Fuss just hasn't done it for me.

They deserve their place more than the other 2 acts definitely.

They're in the studio right now recording a new album, suspected to be released this year. Judging by other artists in similar situations, they could be doing the festival rounds.

Bought my ticket last week, * off with the line up so far though. Mumford and sons are average imo and not big enough to headline, Rihanna should be nowhere near a healine spot(don't get me wrong she's talented, but she just d oesnt suit T). The killers are good enough but only just, looking forward to them and Jake Bugg. There has surely got to be at least one or two massive acts to come in and make T20 what it should be. While maybe too old for T, I'm only 16 and I'd kill to see the Stones, AC/DC, Floyd or somone similar. I know a lot of people my age want to aswell. Realistaclt though I can see Arctic Monkeys, Coldplay and Beasy Eye being announced.

You'd be better off going to a festival that suits your needs then, TITP has a clear target audience.

Music is subjective but the general consensus is they are * hot live, hence the reason they are regular headliners at festivals throughout Europe.

I will probably end up going to TITP but Tomorrowland is somewhere I need to go. I love all sorts of music, in fact I really like Mumford & Sons. When it comes to going to a festival though, the thing I'm looking for is dance music or something similar. The likes of SHM at TITP last year was fantastic.

There will be plenty acts going to TITP where it will be like one big massive rave and whether I do go there or Tomorrowland, I just can't wait to be amongst it.

That's what im doing, although it has to be said, the target audience has changed definitely, it is far more commercial than it used to be.

Look at the lineups from even 5 years ago etc, would never get folk like Rhianna headlining, brutal stuff man. I might be working away next year but if im doing any festivals on this side of the world it will be either Hideout or Sonar, or maybe Benicassim.
