Reading it out in Dougal's voice in your head makes it sound so much funnier :56:

Oh wait. It's jost a flag Ted. That'll be all right then.

    Dougal.

    What Ted.

You're doing it again, aren't you?

    Sure what's that Ted?

All right. We'll go through it just this once more. Now concentrate this time. These cows... are a massive infringement of human rights. Those cows... are a flag that's not there, in Belfast...

    Aye, a Scottish royal symbol!

The fact that the Lion Rampant has been co-opted into the British monarchy's coat of arms doesn't make it any less Scottish, just as the harp isn't any less Irish.

Yeah but remember, to anyone who's actually a republican (the majority on here?) the Scottishness of the monarchy in question is not really the issue.

Madame La Guillotine operates an equal opportunities policy on ethnicity. :smiley-laughing002:

There wasn't a single rubber bullet fired last night and they didn't deploy the water cannons despite 15 psni officers getting hurt,it makes me wonder what the huns would actually have to do before those actions were taken. If that was a republican protest last night I'm sure the outcome would've been a lot different

    How true is that.

However, ultimately it makes no difference.

Their mangy auld flag's getting binned, and if they don't like it, they can be assured we're playing the smallest violin in the world. :bbpd:

I wouldn't have thought that people would let their contemporary political views shape their thoughts on Scotland's historic, organic monarchy?

I just think that the Lion Rampant is a brilliant flag, the fact that it's technically illegal to fly makes it all the more awesome!

A Scottish monarchy, just like any other monarchy, has no right to rule over people due to their 'superior' bloodline.

Would you not concede that historically Scotland's monarchy had a practical purpose in terms of governance? Would Scotland have managed to resist the English for so long without such a system in place?

The very principle of one individual ruling over others on the mere basis of who his parents were is what is abhorrent to a republican - it's not contingent upon particular contemporary circumstances. Indeed monarchies in the past were a lot more oppressive & repugnant than they are now. In my personal opinion, Scotland's historic monarchy sucked * big time. :icon_mrgreen:

Can't argue with this part! :smiley-laughing002:

I seen a comment on one of those daft fb pages saying "The catholics have their tri colour so what's the problem" Eh??? Also alot of other anti-catholic * which made no sense, (and a few "oor troops ur pure fighting for 'at flag in affghan!")

I was ready to comment on some of the stuff but I thought what's the point? Bunch of useless, biggoted * who enjoy being filled with hate.

I'm not catholic or irish and I don't even know what's happening with this flag "outrage", couldn't care less either but seeing that * posted by so many people and with tons others agreeing is just sad.

They are living in a Timewarp, deluded * on the radio almost crying and some halfwit currently serving in the Army ranting that he would die for the UnionJack flag.

    Mad in the * head.

Now the Unionists want it flying 365days a year from the Cenotaph, using the War mermorial to try and get one up to the Nationalist Community is pathetic, but not surprising.

    "Royalty" makes my blood boil.

All men are born equal, I'll bow to no man just because they were born in a family whose ancestors were bigger murdering * than mines.
