    I think the point is; what did Fawkes ever do for Ireland? Or is it just coz he tried to blow up some * Brits in the name of Catholicism?

    True enough, born in Edinburgh although the song says 'The Irish Rebel'. Fawkes had fawke all to do with Ireland.
