I'd take him back for a season or two.

I really don't think the age thing matters. If he still has the ability and the fitness then I'm not concerned.
The only thing I am concerned about is that he could turn into a "Paddy McCourt". Getting used only with 10 minutes left to little effect

Was never quick anyway so being 34 shouldnt have much effect on him and his fitness was always brilliant so be worth a shot on a freebie.

    * me, in that case sign him up. Are there any other players out there that want to come and pay no wages.

And no risk?? Ah well, thats it sorted then.

I have always banged on about us needing experience. But experience at the right age and right level. Ljungberg was a prime example of a great player, but wages and a feeling he wasnt as good as he was made him a waste of money. Naka would be the same. To suggest he could hand down his experience is a fair comment. But why dont we get someone in who is of the same quality and a little younger who can contribute and do the same thing. And, who we may also be able to capitalise financially on further down the line.

There is obviously an emotional attachment to Naka coming back, I loved him when he was here, but at 34 I dont think he is the player we are looking for now and feel he would be coming back for a wage.

To suggest he pays for himself is naive, he raises out profile in Japan, but that doesnt equate to enough to pay his wage.

    He can now mate.... :50:

In the media it suggested one year, with a possible second year as a player coach. That us what is typically done when players in Japan reach a certain age.

J - League is of a far higher standard than the SPL. J - League also promotes its young stars and has always had a policy of picking young exciting players for the team of the year to promote them over seas.

You are incredibly negative about a player who has performed at a consistently high level without showing MUCH signs of deteriorating over the past few years other than not being picked for the Japanese national team.

Do you mean for Man United. I agree, he probably would not fit in their style of play.

Nakamura's revenue for Celtic was extremely high. Japan is probably the most expensive country in the world to live in and merchandise there is extremely expensive. To suggest he did not pay for his own wages would be extremely short sighted and wrong.

If anyone on here, even now has watched a Celtic match in Tokyo or Osaka, the CSC's there draw quite a large crowd or used to when Naka was playing.

Get. Him. Now. As if we weren't lethal enough with FK-s now, with Naka...nobody would be safe against us in the Champ. League.

He would be worth it if he could train a few of the Bhoys to take free kicks like he can.

Take him in on some sort of a trial to check his fitness etc... then give him a short term contract if he still shows class
