Personally I think celtic should sit both hooper and wanyama down together offer them both 3 year deals on 30-35k a week with buyout clauses (hooper 12m+, vic 20m+) and a 15/20% sell on clause, tell them we wont stand in the way next summer if they wana go 'Progress there careers'. We're chasing three league titles in a row, champions league football and realistically have no excuse not to win the treble, all three of which you will never have at southampton, stoke, hull or reading. Its good incentive to stay but celtic need to open up the biscuit tin for once we made close to 40 mil this season and wiped our dept with the sale of ki so to me theres no excuse for being so * tight fisted!

Yes. This is how transfer negotiations normally pan out.

They don't want to sign, I don't think it's about the money with either of them.

Hooper's a fool IMO, I think he'll regret not staying that extra year, he still has stuff to learn here. Juve had him in their back pocket, Hooper knows he's better then that and if I were him, I'd be desperate for another crack at a defence like that, something he won't get playing for Hull or Norwich.

With Wanyama, it's a little different.

Think if it's 14 million we'll accept right away. We'd rather get a bidding war, but whoever is supposedly interested has probably started so high in the hope they get in before anyone else.

Agree, however you would hope someone is explaining to them that they don't have to stay much longer. And Celtic can get a decent return if they sign.

Agree with your point about Hooper, he is only a couple of years on from Championship level and definitely isn't top level premiership material - just yet. I don't think he realises playing in the premiership for anyone does not guarantee you will get selected for England.

Was just thinking, * forbid but if Celtic do not qualify for the Champions League next season, then will Wanyama's value drop considerably?

It seems a lot of his value is tied up in his CL performances. Obviously the clubs wanting him will have watched some of his domestic games and evaluated him as a whole, however it seems like £3-4 million is added on because of the CL and clubs are only really interested in him because of that game (Barca).

    Scary thought.

Would love to know how likely it is that he will at least stay with us through CL qualifying. Suppose it depends if it's Arsenal or a non-CL EPL club that's indicating a satisfactory bid.

Commence bidding at £10m, still early in the window, by the end of it we could end up with alot more. I still think Arsenal or Liverpool will come in for him.

Alan Hutton and Craig Gordon went for £9 million and the premiership is even more flush with cash now.

    Bleed them dry.

Does anybody believe the Sun? Southampton bidding £10m for Wanyama and 'Celtic unlikely to reject that type of money'.

I hope we do. For a start its good but not the final offer.

Would also be disappointed if he courted Southampton tbh.
