Up until that last set Waites was hitting near enough every double he threw.

8 180's so far in the 6 sets and I need less than 13.5 overall.

I just realised how pish 13.5 was when I saw Rossenspeil's post man. Evens for under 19.5 is crackin.

Waites would have battered in plenty more 180's if he had a decent opponent.

O'Shea was guzzling Bud at half time the * waster :87:

Waites is clearly to be good to be playing BDO. Surely he'll switch to PDC sooner rather than later. One thing I have noticed is the prize money seems really top heavy. £100k for winning the tournament, but only £30k for finishing runner up. Makes me wonder what the other players got earlier in the tournament.

He'll get slaughtered in the PDC. Can you ever see him beating MVG, Taylor or even Barney?

BDO is basically just a grooming ground for the PDC, I openly admit I haven't watched much of the BDO world championship, but from what I've been told the standard was pretty poor.

There are clearly very good darts players in the BDO, but most who are that bit special move because 1) the money and 2) the prestige - in my opinion. The problem with a lot of players in the BDO isn't lack of ability, it's lack of consistency in their throws, you can see it blatantly in virtually every game including tonight's final.

Waites could cope with the PDC, he showed during his GSOD win that he isn't just an average player. Unfortunately I see him as peaking around the same level of Hamilton/Painter, not the top end of the PDC. In saying that, he's already bettered both of their darts records in winning the GSOD and now the BDO World Title, so I suppose you never know how he'd react playing against admittedly better opposition; could be the spur he needs to kick his game up a level again, or he could conceivably just be mediocre.

Anyone that watched Waites over this tournament and watched the PDC from start to finish, as I did, then thinks that he would be slaughtered doesn't know a thing about darts.

He is good enough to be at the tail end of both the BDO and PDC world finals.

I think Waites would hold his own in PDC

Seems a down to earth guy played well the last 2 nights and a wee £100,000 bonus back to work on tuesday

    Happy Days

My bank balance would suggest otherwise. :bbpd:

Every one of last year's Premier League players would beat him comfortably.

ive watched the whole tournament and i really think the standard of the BDO is so much lower than the PDC, never used to think there was much of a difference, i reckon the big boys in BDO like waites, o'shea etc could deffo mix it up with the big boys in the PDC but
