    Anyone who would genuinely turn him down is probably assuming because of his age and the fact Juve let him go at the end of last season that he's past it. Wrong.

    He didn't get as much playing time as he should have last season, and the playing time he did get he done something with. And by should have, I mean it. The strikers/trequartistas last season were simply not up to scratch and when he got the chance he played better than them. He saved games on at least a handful of occassions last year and showed a level of experience and footballing intelligence that was equalled/surpassed only by Pirlo in the Juve team that went undefeated. Yes, that's despite being a virtual fringe player last year.

    It's not simply because of his legend that virtually all Juve fans wanted him to get another year on his contract - it was simply because he was still so effective on the pitch. To see him come here (which I doubt would happen for a few reasons but I can always wish) would be fantastic. Don't think of him in the same bracket as a Ljungberg, he's not washed up, quite the contrary.

    I’d * myself into a coma if this were true.

    Would love to see Del Piero in the Hoops. He's mates with Noel Gallagher, so let's hope Noel puts in a good word :50:

    I can imagine many top players being put off by cake violence. It's a heinous crime.

    Let's be honest here. Anyone who wouldn't * at the thought of having Del Piero at Celtic is kidding themselves on.

    Would love to see him here but at 37 and nearly 38 i dont see him being more than an impact sub and jersey seller. Watched him a few times last year and he still has great skill but the fitness levels are pretty poor. Would take a punt on him just to see him in the hoops as long as he wasnt looking for fortunes.

    Neither do I mate but if we were I'd be over the moon. Don't see him ending up in Dubai. MLS maybe, he's very big in Japan/Far East as well. But tbh he proved last season he had the fitness levels and consistency to play more of a role than he ultimately did and could easily get a contract at a good European club if he was offered.

    The experience he would bring to the squad would be so valuable. Think how much someone like Watt could learn from a guy like Del Piero.

    I suggested Alex in the player suggestion thread as soon as I heard Juve weren't renewing his contract...

    One of my favourite players of all time and one I would LOVE to see in the Hoops!!!

    No transfer fee - decent wage & signing on fee - CL football - spl medal - plus big Italian community in Glasgow...

    Come on Lenny PLEASE get it done!!!

    Hail Hail

    Searching google and found this;

    http://www.talfanzine.com/delpiero.htm

    And one particularly interesting Q&A;

    In your new book you said that playing Celtic is among your top ten favourite games and playing at Celtic Park is one of the top highlights for you. This is great for us to hear from a player like you, can you explain a bit more why you feel this way about playing at our stadium and your memory of the matches?
    Besides Glasgow being a magnificent city, I adore its ambience. Moreover, the Celtic’s supporters have a great sporting spirit…they keep on cheering on their team all the time.

    Sydney FC can confirm that the Sky Blues held talks overnight with Italian legend Alessandro Del Piero with a view to bringing him to Sydney for the 2012/13 Hyundai A-League.

    “Overnight we had two video conferences lasting about two hours discussing the possibility of bringing Alessandro Del Piero to Sydney FC for the 2012/13 season,” said Sydney FC Chief Executive Officer Tony Pignata.

    “Alessandro Del Piero is one of the true legends of football and there is no doubt that if he was to come to Sydney FC it would be huge, not only for our club and the Sydney football community, but for the whole A-League.

    “We spoke about football, as well as the Sydney lifestyle and the ability for him to leave a lasting legacy in the game. We presented him with what we think is a good package and we should get an answer within 48 hours.”

    Let the people sing,
    All sounds great at first but too often a big player like this could just upset the dressing room atmosphere which is near perfect at the moment.
