We got better and better domestically. We always had the same frailties in Europe though even when Denayer and Van Dijk were flying.

  2. We got better at defending in the SPFL, not in Europe. We ended up shipping 3 goals at home to Inter Milan when the defence was very settled.

You hit the nail on the head there though, you can strengthen defensively through other areas of the team.

True but again like this season there was individual errors that's led us to conceding so many in Europe, accumulation of factors in that right enough this season.
People said that was the worst Inter team in years, well defensively yes but attacking wise they were a level above and they are sitting 2nd in Serie A just now with a very similar team.

The best way to get us defending better is to have a settled team and a consistent line up with better performances to match. We need to be looking at who will be starting for the qualifiers next season.

In my mind with performances so far this season it will likely be-

    Gordon
    Janko Boyata Jozo Tierney
    Brown Bitton
    Forrest Allan/Rogic Christie/GMS
    Griffiths

From that we should obviously be looking for a few new additions also that Armstrong could be in the middle, Lustig has struggled a lot this season.

Basing it solely on our woeful displays in Europe..

There is nothing to suggest JC is able to influence Ronny tactically. And the feedback from his previous role at Hibs was pretty poor.

Great player and for what he achieved in the game demands respect, doesn't always equate to good coaching though.

He's almost like a Glen Hoddle type, best player still at training and expects everyone else to meet those high standards.

This is only my opinion tbf, it's not as if I've taken party in many training sessions at Lennoxtown.

I would have much rathered we appointed an older head as assistant/coach, to reign in Ronny, advising him and helping to prepare for big matches. Maybe as well as Collins.

His problems at Hibs were claimed from a guy who has previous for disrespecting his managers. He also won them their first trophy in decades.

Fair point..around the trophy..and they sold a lot of players.

But didn't Broonie find him difficult to work with too?

  7. No they weren't. There were a lot more than one player * off with John Collins at Easter Road. Practically the whole team were fed up with him. It was common knowledge.

  8. It's hard to say what went wrong at Hibs. I can imagine plenty of the players would've been * off with a strict diet and intense training sessions all year long. My impression is most SPL players are happy at their level and just want an easy few years picking up a grand or 2.

  9. Never really understood the negativity around Collins. The guy was a great player, obviously takes a keen interest in the game, has been a manager and is well know for his dedication to fitness / eating well.

Therefore, you'd mostly have to surmise that it's players who are NOT so interested in applying themselves as much that would have problems with him.

It's a very Scottish thing to despise someone because they want to be good at something which is why he gets the arrogant tag. Having seen him been interviewed lots of times I must admit I've always thought he spoke well and never came across as big headed. I'd rather have Collins in at number 2 all day to someone with lower standards.

read a rumor that he is to leave his role.. could be *, or not.

  11. I liked him as a player but he just looks like he's not to be trusted and over confidant/ an ego who thinks he's better than he is.

This post following Roy's is so fitting.

:smiley-laughing002: * brilliant when you read the two of them .

  13. I know the difference between aragant and a will to be good bud,Collins according to MY gut feeling would jump ship in hard times and wouldn't change his pyslosiphy if it wasn't working.
I didn't say I dispise the guy and I'm not saying it behind tartan specs.
I'd rather ronny had the team he worked with in Norway for obvious reasons.
That's just my opinion which I thought I'd post, then misinterpreted by you.Dont quote and 2nd guess me mate, It's nippy and will stop me making future posts incase I've to answer myself to you which is something I couldn't be arsd with again.
I like to put a post up now and again to show my interest in Celtic, I've not got time for folk wanting debates or corrected my thoughts.
    Cheers Roy

The first professional footballer to score with a pair of Predators.

His arrogance is well placed :icon_mrgreen:
