CNN) -- At least one gunman attacked worshippers at a Sikh temple in the Milwaukee suburb of Oak Creek, Wisconsin, on Sunday, leaving at least one dead and two wounded while police converged on the site.
Some people are believed to be trapped inside the Sikh Temple of Wisconsin, and at least one gunman may still be inside, Alderman Dan Jakubczyk told CNN.
"As far as I know, it is still an active situation," Jakubczyk said.
Carolyn Bellin, a spokeswoman for Milwaukee's Froedtert Hospital, said one of two men brought there from the incident was in surgery early Sunday morning, while the other was in the surgical intensive care unit.
There was no immediate comment from police in Oak Creek, on the south side of Milwaukee. But at least one body was visible lying in the parking lot, and Kathy Moran, a nursing supervisor at Columbia St. Mary's hospital in Milwaukee, told CNN that early reports suggested between eight to 20 people had been wounded.
Gurcharan Grewal, president of the Sikh Religious Society of Wisconsin, told CNN that he has heard from multiple people that there were wounded people still inside the temple and that there may have been multiple perpetrators. Police have sealed off the entire area, he said.
Grewal spoke to CNN from another Sikh temple about 20 miles away, where he said police were on the scene was well.
"We are really vigilant. We are really concerned," he said.
The temple has a congregation of 250 to 400, according to its website.
"I just want to say this temple was built a number of years ago and there have never been any problems with this temple," Jakubczyk said. "They've been a plus to this city and to my district.

    I'm not picky.
Just saw this on tv here a wee while ago. Up to 20 people wounded now and 1 cop has been shot multiple times but still alive.

Harsh. I'm pretty sure the victims have families and friends, so even if you don't care for them personally, you should at least consider how they feel. * forbid it ever happens to anyone that you are close to.

    Slide on there chief.

    :50:

If someone belonging to me got shot and some * on the internet in Egypt of wherever said they could not give a *,then i would not really be bothered.

You ever stop and wonder why someone posts this *....all attention seeking :50:

Why have no other shootings across the world been reported ?

Because it has not got to do with religion and terror.

Life is a *,but most things are only commented on because of terror and state co-ordinated scare mongering.

    Peace.

Seems to me that going out of ones way to post in a thread just to declare how much one does not care about the subject of that thread is, in fact, rather * stupid.

The big left arrow on your browser is what you're looking for, not the reply button.

I assumed that it was posted because this is a forum and the topic of terrorism and religion are always two hot topics of discussion. Also, because some people may want to offer their condolences to those affected.

And what are the other shootings you refer to that have not been reported? The cinema shootings in Colorado a couple of weeks garnered worldwide media coverage and had nothing to do with religion or terrorists. Just some psychopath with a gun.

I think even the dog would wonder why someone would willingly involve themselves in a conversation just to say how much they don't care about the conversation.

If you think this shooting and the Cinema shooting are the only shootings to have happened the world over lately, then you are deluded.

    :50:

    That is all.

I don't want this thread turning into a right or wrong,so if anyone wants to yap on,then PM me.

I would have to be pretty naive to think that these are the only two shootings to have happened the world over. Not when there are 7billion odd folk on the planet. However, you stated that only the shootings related to religion and terrorism have been reported by the media, which of course, is wrong.

For the record, I'm not yapping on and certainly don't have the willingness to take this to PMs. But just because every shooting that happens in the world isn't labelled as Breaking News on FOX and CNN, doesn't mean that it is not being reported. For example, if a man is walking to the shops in some far off town in Mumbai (just an example) and is shot in the head, I hardly doubt it would appear on the front page of the Scottish Sun. The local news would be more inclined to cover it.

I'm done here anyway. Everyone has an opinion, even if it does prove to be an unpopular one. And the thread is going pretty off topic.

You couldn't 'give a *' that people were killed?

Regardless if it has been only reported because it was religion related is a bit ignorant and heartless to be honest?

I take it the next time a high profile celtic fan is killed you'll 'not give a *'?

I agree with FawCough tbh, when I seen the thread I thought the same thing riht away, we only really ever see UK or American threads about shootings etc in this section, then people come on and write RIP and stuff, basically every other day. Yet like he says theres hundreds if not thousands of shootings a day all over the place with people we never have heard of.

I dont have a problem with it(threads about X shootings or deaths) but I see his point.
