Totally agree with the board on this one. We should have the team to qualify but can't afford to speculate and fail.

Whether fans like it or not....the spl now has no cash

Quality players aren't coming to the spl. That's the stark reality

that's been the reality for years though. we'll still find hidden gems and our youth system is proving itself exceptional at the minute.

Aye youth system but even the likes of the hidden gems in lower English leagues wont come if they have other options now

do you always need to be so negative?

the English market has never been our main place of business in recent years. There are plenty hidden gems worldwide and we have one of the best scouts in world football IMO.

    calm to a panic.

    It's not negative.

That's what I'm saying we need to take punts on hidden gems as quality players aren't coming

This isn't new though and you're making it sound like it is because of current circumstances.

It's multiplied by recent circumstances. IMO players like ledley wouldn't have come this summer given state of the league

that's a fair point, but Ledley was an absolute surprise even with the Orcs still around. We're Celtic, we'll continue to attract players and we'll still be seen as a stepping stone to the EPL.

I don't think it's going to change anywhere near as drastically as you do. The draw of Celtic is by no means solely derby related.

I'm not saying its game over. I'm saying it will be much much harder to attract these players.

again, I don't think it will be much harder.

I don't think Kayal, Wanyama, Izzy even Ledley, would have been sold on us due to the derby. Europe, shop window, playing in front of our volume of fans are the big selling points and will continue to be.

    Very disappointing.

If Kelvin Wilson is at the centre of our defence against a Molde or Limassol then we are walking a tightrope. We NEED experience at the back and fast.

It will be. That aside financially it will be...as this post states.

IMO ledley wouldn't have come. Less money here, even less prestige as no old form tv coverage.

I think some vastly underestimated the impact

I think some vastly overestimate the impact. Different strokes.

I'm not for a second thinking it's going to be easy going, but as a brand worldwide we are stronger than we have ever been. Income isn't going to be dramatically reduced for us as long as the fans continue to turn up.

The Old Firm game is only important to Scottish football fans. Sky's viewing figures will attest to that. There was very little "prestige" attached to the derby any more.

Totally disagree. Income will be down by millions.

There is prestige...that's why tv, sponsors etc are attracted. This whole worldwide brand stuff is a bit of a red herring too...what is our income worldwide (outwith Scotland)

Viewing figures for old firm games is HUGE btw. Not just Scottish football fans.

our income worldwide is significant. We sell vast amounts of merchandise in America and Asia with Irish pubs springing up in Seoul even since Ki joined. We're very visible.

The Sky deal will continue to be there. 95% of Scottish homes with Sky have the football package. If the SPL isn't shown and people ditch their Sky contracts that's going to be a huge hit for them to take.

Sponsorship may be different, but if we make the Champions League there's no way sponsorship goes.

We will take a hit, no doubt, but not anywhere near the level you seem to think.

We don't make anything from Irish pubs.

Sky tv will be there but at a much reduced price. Scottish football fans won't stop their subscription...they probably watch more English games than Scottish anyway!

    Location:
    Fife.
    Fav Celtic Player:
    Wanyama.
    Fav Celtic Song:
    Celtic Symphony.
Whatever the case is with Ki, we wouldn't have any trouble replacing 4M for example, if that was the amount we spent on bolstering our back line.

Of course we don't, my point was that we're very visible in foreign markets.........

I think you're underestimating the level of animosity their is in the Scottish football supporting population towards the English leagues. Particularly if our league suffers because of it.
