I think people jump on the bandwagon to give him abuse. Its like the thing to do after games if fans are upset with a result. Moan and abuse Sammy.

He will prove his worth this season.

I think people are ridiculous to say he doesn't give 100%. We have plenty of players that don't put in 100% and he isn't one of them.

It's a completely separate matter when talking about the result and Sammy. The whole team was at fault for us not getting a result. But the fact of the matter is, people are frustrated that in most games Sammy plays, his performance is just not good enough. The same can't be said for really any other player that played a couple of nights ago. I don't think most are blaming sammy, they are just sick of him not performing to an acceptable standard time and time again.

If he is giving 100% or not is irrelevant, he's just not good enough.

I just have faith that Lennon will bring the best out of him.

Sammy hasn't really had a bad performance this season and he played really well against Inter. He shouldn't be getting this amount of criticism.

I admire your faith and positivity but already had a season under Lennon and he didn't look any better than previously. I hope he proves me wrong and bangs in 15+ goals season but just can't see it.

Inter was a friendly. Meant nothing. He can't seem to perform when it matters.

Okay, I agree he shouldn't be given as much criticism as he is, it a shame for the guy. But the real question is.....Should he be part of the first team in a season that we MUST win the league. Not just for the sake of Lenny's job, but for us the fans? I don't think so.

I think he should be part of the squad at his best. He is one of the best players we have if not the best. I think Lennon will be able to help him in the consistency department.

I also don't see the point in getting rid of someone, if we have no one to replace him.

Samaras is a * dreadful player and if you look back through this forum you will see any number of threads where people are * off that the big * got a new contract.

He's playing terrible recently, he can only score against Rangers. Play him against Rangers though and he'll do fine!

He has lived off one decent game against the Orcs in January and got a 3 year contract off the back of it. Why I will never know. Should on Thursday night that he is not good enough. Its not his fault though, Lennon should know this by now. He just never looks like he is capable of scoring.

Its all very well saying that he is useful to cover at corners and defend free kicks, but how about we get defenders to do that? We could then perhaps get a striker up front that is a threat.

And he is a lazy, selfish, frustrating player. Offers nothing in terms of entertainment or value to the team. At times on Thursday he would have been as well going off the park and joining the crowd.

We don't even need him to help defend corners now that's the thing. That argument is redundant. We have Majstorovic, Mulgrew, Kelvin Wilson and Ki in the team and they are all 6ft plus.

I always thought that argument about playing Samaras because he could help defend at corners was bullshit anyway but it is definitely not a valid argument now.

It never was valid. His ability in the air is exaggerated, at best he is capable of aimless flick ons but more often he is bullied in the air by smaller and better players.

Sammy has been on the fringes since about this time last year. I don't see how people are expecting 15+ goals a season.

He has started one game this season and played poorly in that game. As did a number of players I'm led to believe.

He's exactly where he should be - a different option and 2nd in the pecking order to Stokes/Hooper. I don't see us picking up a better 3rd/4th choice striker, in fact you'd have to be nuts to think that we can get an Internationlist striker who can at times single-handedly win Old Firms. See Murphy for someone who can't.

In fact let's think of recent 3rd/4th choice strikers... Craig Beattie.. Cilian Sheriden... Chris Killen... Daryl Murphy.. Derek Riordan..

Samaras is easily better than them all.

I guess from Celtic's perspective the problem is the striker position is notoriously, exagerratedly over-priced in the transfer market. Hence the lack of activity this summer.

It's a no-brainer - Samaras is an excellent option on the bench and in the squad - it's a shame some people have a hard-on for giving the guy a hard-time.

I'd have John Sutton in the team before Sammy.

Fair enough but 3 managers disagree...
