Georgios Samaras

Discussion in 'Ex Players' started by donnegal celt, Jul 17, 2011.

  1. People boo him because they want him subbed. Because they think it would be beneficial for the team. It obviously didn't work and I personally think Lenny was very foolish leaving him on til the very end. That's the reason, it's not because they have some sinister hate for the guy. It's purely football, where for most people.

  2. I just find it sad that he is the only player that is getting real abuse. He was far from being bad last night. I thought Stokes was awful last night but you don't see me writing about how he as no talent and how he's a donkey.

He didn't leave him on and your theory doesn't explain the abuse he got at full time of the Braga game.

  3. Good shout mate - team game and our fans forget that - Im not Sammy's biggest fan and he can only play up front alone - simple as that.

  4. That's the thing though. We are not basing our criticism of Sammy solely on last night. It's because the majority of the games he plays he doesn't perform. It's as simple as that. The same can't be said for Stokes so it's ridiculous to wonder why Stokes isn't getting as much criticism from us as Sammy.

  5. I dont think he was booed last night at all just the usual. Aaaww * sammy fur * sake ya big fukn * :31:

  6. Everyone one knows we need a new striker...cant see many above Sammy's quality breaking down our front door to be here...so looks like we have Sammy until then cos Stokesy is * up front on his own.

  7. I've not been taking part in this thread, for the reason that Sammy threads rarely seem to shed any light on their subject. But I do have one observation to make about the response to him in the stadium.

I don't believe the majority of Celtic fans are anti-Sammy. But then the majority of Celtic fans have too much class (and basic intelligence) to boo their team's own players. Sammy is a person who seems to attract the enmity of precisely the sort of folk who would boo one of their own players. And so the negative response to him is far more vocal than for other, less talented players.

I have tried having it out with these numpties, to find out the root of their analysis, but I've found that sooner or later the discussion nearly always comes round to the length of his hair, or some other figment of perceived effeminacy.

In my opinion, the folk who now boo Sammy are the same demographic who used to boo Aiden: a player now rumoured to be the subject of a £27 million transfer battle. In short - and I wouldn't wish to lump any TC posters in with these unfortunates - they are people who lack anatomical discernment.

Don't know their * fae their elbow. :50:

  8. You have made up that hd doesn't play well the majority of times.

"The same can't be said for Stokes so it's ridiculous to wonder why Stokes isn't getting as much criticism from us as Sammy"

Im not wondering. I don't want any sole player getting abuse unless it really is warranted and in this case it isn't warranted not even slightly.

Blaming Sammy for the draw is just one of the dumbest things I have ever seen.

  9. You usually have it spot on, and you haven't disappointed :50:

    good post.

  10. He simply isn't consistent enough to warrant that many games, no doubt he loves the club but do the fans really love him back, im 50/50 with sammy sometimes he does my nut in, yet sometimes i am pleasantly surprised because he is useful up front on his own.

  11. Or thd people that would boo and give abuse to Naylor. We have always had a fall guy.

  12. Yeah but, with all due respect, Anthony Stokes scored around 20 goals for Celtic last season, set up more goals than any other Celtic player last season, has started off this season in goalscoring form again and generally looks like a football player when he takes the field for Celtic. You can't say any of that about Samaras.

That is why when both Samaras and Stokes play badly in the same game, Stokes will get cut some slack by the fans and Samaras will get stick.

  13. A explained myself in a post on the previous page. I do not want any sole player to get the blame for last night.

If someone was at fault I would say it was Lennon. I think he got his tactics wrong on the night. But again he shouldn't be abused.

I dont think the booing was directed solely at Sammy last night. The crowd was frustrated and the expectation was that we would have went with Stokes and Maloney, the pairing that finished the game on saturday. At that stage we were looking for some goalscoring threat, and the assumption would have been to stick Stokes up front.

I have never booed any player at CP and I dont like to hear it either, but the frustration in the crowd was palpable last night.

  14. I wholeheartedly agree that Neil Lennon should take his share of the blame for last night too. It was him after all that put Samaras in the starting eleven. Something he deserves to be criticised for.

  15. How can Lenny continue to defend this guy , he said Sammy needs to be given more time :97:

  16. I know. It's ludicrous.

  17. Well he's not going to come out and say "see Sammy, he's pure * by the way" and utterly destroy the guy. He has to publicly back his players, regardless of the bollocking they might get in the dressing room, that's true of any manager.

Would you rather he came out and gave our players abuse? That would be madness.

  18. Of course he's not going to slag the player but to ask for more time to be given to a player who has been here over 3 years is just taking the *.

  19. as much as i've stuck up for him in the past it's time for him to go its like watching an elephant on stilts
