I took a wee look and Strathclyde seems to come out on top so that could be a helpful deciding factor. I'm not much of a home body so moving away should be fine, at least I say that now. Haha.. Thanks for your input!

Anyone know anything about Appeasement in 1930's, more specifically how Military Weakness and Lack of reliable allies affected it?

been a couple of years since i did higher history so i might be a bid shady. but im assuming its to do with why britain appeased hitler?

military weakness- basically the british army was quite weak at the time, nobody really wanted to join the army/thought one wasnt needed after WW1. so britain couldnt start a war with germany because they would pump them, so britain had to appease hitler in order to gain time to build up an army etc.

lack of allies- main one was the fact that the us president, cant mind who he was, didnt want america getting involved in europes problems. also, a lot of ex colonies that sent troops during WW1 were in the "well we helped you last time, so your on your own now" kinda camp. meanwhile, hitler was getting friendly with musolini and was working with stalin. so to sum up, britain had no big powerful allies on their side, whilst germany had quite a few. so britain had to appease otherwise germany and all their pals would kick * out of them.

And thanks Alex! I got most off the public opinion/economic difficulties. But there's * all to say about the other stuff imo. There's only so much you can say about the fact the army was *.

this for your big essay thing? public opinion, economy and lack of allies are the main 3 reasons for appeasement and youll be able to write the most about them. but dont ignore the weak military, easy marks for the few lines it will take you to explain it.

Aye, its extended essay. I've wrote big paragraphs on Public Opinion, Economy and Versailles. I just need to put in smaller ones about the military, allies, communism etc cause there's not much to say about them.

Can someone help my wee bro?

He has some sort of History essay on Tuesday on the motives behind the Liberal Reforms 1906-1914 I think it was, and he needs to find quotes for it but says he can't so thought I'd ask on here to see if anyone could point him in the right direction.

    Cheers

    Macbeth HELP?

Got an essay tomorrow morning under controlled environment, no notes etc and only have an hour. Its on Macbeth, but more specifically:

"discuss the female characters in macbeth. how do they reflect the time in which the play was written?"

Any suggestions on what the * to write? I've slept all through this topic, but it would have made no difference, my teacher's a * idiot.

Increased concern and awareness of Britain's poverty problem.

    Failure of the existing system.

    The woeful Boer War.

Britain's place in the world being under threat from Germany and the US.

Emergence of Socialism & New Liberals so need to appease the working class.
