Whatever money did come in I seriosly doubt it would go on a better calibre of player. At best we'd spend more money on average players and then say "Look what we paid, we've tried".

Strong rumours that the new name of Celtic Park is going to be "The Tennents Jungle" or "Greggs Park"

Its a growing trend, another revenue stream. Most folks would still call it Parkhead or Celtic Park anyway. Would imagine it wont be long before were going away to play the huns at their newly "re-branded" Poundland Govan Stadium

It is Celtic Park but how many people, media, fans etc call it parkhead?

No matter what company they sold the rights to and renamed it, I and I'm sure many others would still refer to our ground as Celtic Park or Paradise.

Just the same as when a pub changes name, If it has been The Red Lion since anyone can remember and someone takes it over and changes the name to the Black Bull, most of the locals will still refer to it as the Red Lion.

Just a name after all, If it brings in extra revenue every year which would go directly to the playing side then I say bring it on.

I think people should keep an open mind on the subject, as it is a reality that has happened in countless sports & countless stadia around the world... Parkhead, Celtic Park or whatever else it may get called, it's still Paradise! :shamrock:

Not something I'd like done but if it were to bring in extra money for the transfer budget then I'd be open to it. I'll always call it Parkhead or Celtic Park though.

As long as it wasn't something embarrassing like the Vagisil Stadium or something, then I guess so.

Highbury and the Emirates are 2 different stadiums altogether, not just a re-name.
And they do call it the Emirates as it hasn't been called anything else.

Firstly... I can't believe people saying as long as it gets us money for the transfer budget.. Dream on, It won't get spent on the transfer budget and if it did would you trust lennon and co with the money? after watching celtic for the past 5 years or so surely this is all very doubtful...

Secondly.. we'd get 3-5 million tops. not the 10 some are are hoping for. If we had 60k there every week and were on tele at CP every week then fair enough but we're not. Infact we're very rarely seen on tv when we're not in europe, Witch let's face it is most seasons now. So anyone who bought the rights wouldn't be getting there name seen by the billions who watch live premier league games, They'd be getting seen by a few thousand who read the paper 40k at CP and a handful of away fans. With 2 Of games thrown in. Who's going to pay much money for that??

Finally.. I'm not willing to see the name tennants stadium or jjb or whatever name they get arena, when I hear about celtic park, because It won't be celtic park. I do not want to see the name of my teams home sold off for Pittance witch we don't absolutely need at the moment .

O.K. lads, thanks for pointing out what a * i was with the emirates thing :52:. Its early and i'm hungover.
Still, i dont like the idea of selling off the name. And just because we have sponsors names on the shirts and in the stadium doesnt mean we like it.

This would be my concern. The board would likely put it towards the balance sheet and celebrate the fact we are the only club in Scotland running a surplus each year.

For even 5m a year I wouldnt be against it. The fans will always know it as celtic park or parkhead. That said I would much rather it was the Nike Celtic Park rather than something like the Sports Direct Stadium!

To me it will always be Paradise, if renaming it brought us in a good yearly cash injection, although not ideal, would be hard to resist, unfortunately.:celt_2:

    * yeah... Not even that bothered if it all goes to transfers/youth... As long as its a good brand and good price i'm in favour... SPL is a financial blackhole just now, and this would be clean, easy cash boost to the club which would be all ours... Well, as long as we dont do another 'joint branding' with the huns that is...

The money wouldn't be enough to lure me into such a change.
