You can always tell, especially in the past few seasons that the Huns look so up for it straight from the off. I know we did well against them last season but they just always looked so pumped up and get straight out the traps, just seems to be missing in our players at times.

When Neil Lennon was appointed manager, one of the first things he said was that he hoped to fill the squad with "British and Irish" players who knew a bit about our game and the passion it demands.

It makes you wonder if A) He didn't stick to that plan, or B) The board didn't back him that much in his wish list.

Either way, we don't have enough Hartley's, Robson's, Caldwell's, etc to offer a bit of fight when need be. What we have is a squad of good players who don't know what it is to roll up the sleeves.

I dont see where people are getting this from though?

In the last game for example they only had 1 SHOT IN THE FIRST 50 MINUTES and it went in, it was also put on a plate by a defensive mistake.

Not exactly crazy rampant stuff from a team pumped up playing like men possessed at home in a Derby is it?

This is basically the point I'm making, I don't just mean Celtic fans it's players that know what it means to win and know what Celtic means.

All very true except Healy (without doubt he knows exactly what it all means but big game player for them? Behave). Could also argue Wallace and Alexander wouldn't come under the big game players banner either imo. :50:

That doesnt come from supporting the team though.

I think we just lack the players with knowhow like the Paul said.

But that is a thing passed on from generation to generation, it cannot be bought or added to a team.

Boruc, Hinkel, Caldwell, McManus, Naylor, McGeady, Hartley, Robson, Nakamura, McDonald and Vennegoor all left between June 2009 and June 2010. That was a full team who had the know how and the high standing in the dressing room, who were there to be looked up to and learned from.

All had left by the time Lennon took over leaving Lennon with heehaw.

    Imagine:
O'Neill taking over without Mjallby, Boyd, McNamara, Lambert and Larsson?
Strachan taking over without Balde, Agathe, Thompson, Lennon, Petrov, Sutton and Hartson?
Mowbray took over with Boruc, Hinkel, Caldwell, McManus, Hartley, Brown, McGeady, Robson, McDonald but only Brown remained for Lennon.

That will never be replaced, the players we have now started a fresh with no background and have to work everything out for themselves.

The thing we most lack was the remaining hierarchy of the old guard, something that cannot be signed or added. Ideally Boruc, Caldwell, Robson, McGeady and McDonald would have remained for Lennon but they never he never even got left a Naylor, McManus or Hartley.

But you made it sound like we have no players who support the Club and they do, support doesnt mean much it will only add about 2% to a player.

What we lack is the key ingredient of players having something to aspire match, beat and replace like all teams have, Especially as they are mostly young players with not much experience.

You can tell the way players talk about Scott Brown in the Celtic View they always say he would be their first name on the team-sheet because he must act like the Daddy of the dressing room and all the players know it but he's the only one. Wilson has been injured too much and not played enough games as first choice to be classed that so Brown is the loan man of the old guard that any new player will realise straight away.

Ideally we would have 4/5 of Browns standing that had been left so there was a group that the new players could all see and relax and be more confident in themselves knowing that they are always there and they're the ones who just push them on and whatever.

They could all be foreigners like Boruc, Hinkel, Nakamura, Naylor and McDonald but any new players would know that they are the main men of Celtic. But the problem was for this team they were all new together only Brown was a first choice player and Samaras and Wilson were still yet to establish themselves.

Last season is irrelevant people, its a new season, and so far the huns players have shown they want it more than our players, i do agree about the celebration thing as well, look at the way shitesmith and laffable celebrated, if you or i scored an equalizing goal at ibox for celtic, we would go * mad and do some kind of adebayor celebration or some crazy *.

There is a significant lack of drive and fight from the celtic team and to say otherwise would be farcical and wearing green tinted specs if you can't see it.

The Difference between them and us is - They Have a defence we DONT

They Have a Keeper we DONT and they have a £4m forward Jelavic who scores about every game we DONT.

Maybe Lawwell is happy to play 2nd fiddle every season to them as long as the balance sheet is in order eh.

Counts for nothing. So was Paul McStay but he would've wanted to win an Old Firm game more than anybody when he was on the park.

Davis is as much of a Hun as Lafferty and Naismith.

Sorry but that's wrong mate. Broony is the only one there who "hates" the filth. Kayal gives his all for us and is an excellent player but he could just have easily have signed for the huns, just like Commons. Kris moved from Forest to Derby - the equivalent of going from rangers to Celtic, so although he's very good for us when on top form - he's hardly the most loyal player on the planet.

And Ledley is Welsh so I don't know if he would have been more Green or Blue growing up, he probably didn't give a * like most people down south.

Defo agree with what people are saying about lacking leadership qualities, their squad is much older and more experienced whereas Lenny has started from scratch with young signings like Kayal and Hooper and young bhoys like Forrest, which is good for us in the long run but very very bad in the short term, and sadly most football fans only care about and see the short term.
