I rate McCourt, don't get why so many of our fans can't stand the guy! He has never had a solid position in the team or a run in the side. He picks up 10 minutes here and there which is never going to get the best out of any player. Even considering this huge disadvantage he has scored and created goals on numerous occasions when brought on.

You may well be right Butch, but plenty better than Brown have had the run about of their life playing Barca. Just watch the Madrid midfielders in the next classico to see them getting the same runaround. No shame in that.

He also had a lot of injuries, and when Paddy had a run in the side he was really good, it was Commons who kicked him out, he hasn't had a run since because we have had good players in that position unfortunately for him!

Wow butch, no offence my good friend but your consistent unfair cynicism and criticism of Scott Brown is almost as valid as mfisher attempting to debate. Still you are right, McCourt has scored goals for Northern Ireland.

You sir are a moon man.

I am not browns biggest fan, but he does bring a bit of bite to the Celtic team, all Paddy brings is lack of possession, as his constant slow as * runs are well known in the SPL and just loses the ball.

Actually there was a point a couple of seasons back where McCourt got a consistent run of about 7 or 8 games I think, and it was the worst he has ever played in a Celtic top. This is why he stays on the bench now.

you could say the same about being here 5 years and still cant string 2 passes together, but I believe PADDY can do the same job as BROWN
if not better, tell me this, why is it ON BROWN side of the park that any team we play, there attack starts from skinning him. this is all there for the people to watch. don't just take my word for it. but if we are dependant on a unskilled Lunger that offers no more than that. we are going to get humped when the pressure is really on. WE HAD another player in the same mold as BROWN if not better, and we did not like his way of playing the sideways and back passing that's the sort of play you would expect from seasoned left or right back, the player we got rid of was N"Gwemo. on a third of the wages. and we didn't fancy him to much :celt_2:

Not necessarily about ability. His style of play doesn't suit the way we play and there are several players who play in his position. He's a handy player to have come off the bench when we are struggling for a goal.

as if we're having a debate on who is better Brown or McCourt.

It's like arguing that Carrick is better than Wanyama.

Do you honestly believe that? He was excellent on that run, one of our best players. It was only Commons coming in and hitting the ridiculous form that he did that took Paddy out of the team. I can understand people not loving Paddy, but no-one is realistic about him. It's total extremes either way, he's either Messi or pub team. He's a very talented player who with a bit of fine tuning and a run in the team could be an excellent winger imo, but at this stage he's not there due to any number of reasons.

Hahahaha McCourt better than Brown, * geez peace! McCourt doesn't get a game because there are players at this club who are far better and offer a more three dimensional performance than McCourt. As people have said before, he will be 30 next year, if he was a young lad I'd be compelled to see more before judging him but come on. We've got younger, better players to get enthuisiastic about.

Why are people comparing McCourt to Scott Brown? They are two completely different players. Both of them are capable of doing things that the other one simply cannot. Could Paddy get through the same work rate as Brown, no. Is Brown capable of beating three or four players and then slotting it home, no. I still think that it is worthwhile keeping a hold of Paddy. He is a good impact sub and someone who gets the fans on the edge of there seats when he has the ball, because we know what he can do. He will be picking up next to nothing in terms of wages compared to most i would imagine. But he certainly wouldn't be on the teamsheet before Brown.
