I'd have to say marginally better. But truth be told I think I could have done a better job than Tony Mowbray so just because Neil's done a wee bit better doesn't make him a great choice as manager.

Not sure. In Strachans worst final season we won a cup, took the league to the last day and played in the CL group stages. That was treated like some kind of disaster. So far we have taken the title to the last day, won a cup and been shocking at Europe's diddy level competition. Its only progress if you look at it from the low of the Mogga reign just after he had sold off the spine of our side.

Yes and then Neil needed to bring a full new team, a full new one. Blend them in and then go on to get our highest points tally in a league campaign for 8 years.

We could have done better, we should have but he showed improvement and started playing a type of football I haven't seen in years at Celtic Park. Enjoyable football.

He brought back a fighting nature to the team and a bit of class in players like Kayal and Izaguirre. Now people are slating him because of a draw against Sion and a loss against St Johnstone?

Some fans disgust me, they really do. Gunt if Lennon was Scottish you wouldn't be having this conversation.

Lennon is the right manager for the minute I think, a transitional period where we're trying to get the league back, what we don't need is some foreign manager with tonnes of tactics and training ground technique but no passion. Neil knows as much about Celtic as anyone alive, and give his all 24/7 because you know he LOVES the club.
You cannot compare him to Arsene because for one, Arsenal fans now hate him, and also he's been in London for over a decade so his time has naturally come to an end. Lennon IS just getting started and if he's given a chance (by the board more so than the fans now) then he WILL win (more) trophies for this club.

Lennon is not a brilliant manager though and we will never win the Champions League under him, but as I said I believe this to be a transitional period where after a few years of decline following the brilliance of the MON years, we need to slowly build our finances and squad back up.
Lennon knows he will probably be here no longer than 5 years but because he loves the club he is trying to bring through youth players and make sure we are set for the future, so that if FIFA rules and regulations are adhered by, in a few years all the leagues will be more equal as the English cannot keep on spending the amounts they are or they will get kicked out of Europe.

total *. I only wanted a manager who actually had some experience. I am not one of the dafties who picked him, a guy with no experience in a world full of managers with years of experience, simply because he is seen as Mr Celtic. I dont care if the football looks prettier if it doesnt bring success. We have a history of guys stating they want to play an entertaining style of attacking football and winning very little - Burns, Barnes, Mogga. What we needed was a shrewd older manager who is tactically cunning. We dont need weaving pretty patterns. The last couple of games showed the limitations of the pass and move kind of game on the deck against massed defending. You need to play ugly, mix it, long ball whatever it takes. You cant play to a template of a style because it looks good. Rangers have won three in a row and been to a UEFA final the year before that all at a time when we were playing much better football than them. That was down to them having a very clever manager who knew how to get the maximum success our of his players and didnt care about style. Strachan did the same for us for three years. Nothing more could have been asked of him bring three titles and 2 CL last 16s and three years of CL money for the club. I hope Lenny succeeds but I would maintain that appointing him was totally irrational. He was a complete novice.

That's why I said AT THE MOST.
I agree the league is needed no less 2nd place this season is a failure especially as Rangers are *, have about 2 good players but still I don't think getting on at Lenny will help matters.
The man has been sent bombs, bullets, and attacked inside a ground and on the street by huns before, I don't think his own fans turning on him will help his confidence at all.

With the greatest regret.....You are correct.

Experience is the greatest trait any manager can have. You learn at smaller clubs then come to Celtic.

My only hope is Comical Ally * it up ar Greyskull.

I think the bits in bold are telling. So he lis not a great manager, will make a lot of mistakes but its OK because he loves the club and hates the huns. That is basically a pretty good summary of what a lot of fans have been saying since before he was even appointed.

That is why I said 'Its only progress if you look at it from the low of the Mogga reign just after he had sold off the spine of our side'. He has improved on him. Mogga is totally down to whoever was daft enough to appoint him. When interviewed someone must have listened to his babbling about Barcelona type football and completely forgotten the lessons of past managers like Barnes who put style before winning and babbled on about it. I cant believe that lesson was forgotten because its a classic Celtic failing.
