My mate managed to beat the test, so they're not as flawless as you so expertly make out.

Why would someone be smoking weed during work anyway? Would it be okay if the guy who caused the accident had a few beers at lunch? That's perfectly legal.

I just feel it's not right that someone could get sacked because they decided to smoke a natural herb in their spare time (even weeks before they work), but come in hungover and it's hunky-dory.......

so your mate managed to beat it ..did he tell you how ? ......I dont agree with anyone being under the influence of any substance wether its weed , other drugs or alcohol ..The matter of the fact is people should be punished should they roll up to work intoxicated or under the influence of other substances its not right ...

Why is it a joke? Where i worked when i left school used to do random drug tests.
The reason? People turning up to work off their *.
They got fed up of people stoned or speeding, so they pulled you from the line, did the test and if you were positive you were out.
If people on drugs are costing companies money then they have every right to sack you - same as you can be sacked for phoning in a sickie when all you have is a hangover.
Proving that one is difficult though so it doesnt happen all that often - Facebook these days though is helping.
I know of a girl who got sacked thanks to Facebook - told her boss she was having bleeds (she was pregnant) so she was signed off for 3 weeks.
Next day she has about 30 pics on her Facebook of a party she was at.... *. Tut tut.
I was glad she got caught as we'd had a real miscarraige only the month before and she was pretending just to get time off work and party :38:

By all means have a smoke if you want, but just be aware that if your company suspects you under the influence they will get shot.

aye it would be between that temp as it left your body but by the time you've secured the container, put your junk away, done your belt etc then actually handed it over to the nurse / doctor / tester it would be well below this temp even if it was your own * you were supplying.

I think the point here is that the tests unfairly penalise smokers as they can provide samples that fail these tests long after they were "under the influence". With alcohol its 24 hours max and with smoke it seems to be up to three months.

I dont think someone who smoked a joint at the weekend is an accident risk on a Wednesday, or for that matter 2 weeks later. :shamrock:

    100% this.

how could i be a danger to anyone at work because i smoked a joint 3 weeks beforehand? the test isnt fair because it gives a positive result even when the employee is no longer under the influence of the substance. ive smoked weed since i was in high school and ive had my current job for 7 years, ive never once been high at work but at no point during that 7 years would i be able to pass a drug test if asked. this is where the test is unfair.

A mob I used to work with half the workforce were smoking about 4 joints a day during work, passing a joint about the van on the way to work at 10 past 7 in the morning :56:

I dont think they should penalise the use of cannabis as theres no bad effects from it, I know loads probably 40 people who smoke it regularly and work in allsorts of jobs, hairdressers, nurses, scaffolders, taxi drivers etc so it is a disgrace people can get sacked for it.

It all depends on body weight and legnth of time you have used the substance. A heavier or overweight person will have the THC in the system for up to 3 months whereas somebody of a normal body weight will have it up to 30 days because THC readily binds to fat cells.

Its a joke that the stuff is illegal in this day and age to be honest, it causes more harm being illegal than it would if it were legal. Alcohol is a far far more harmful and far more powerful drug than Cannabis. Its lunacy.

I'm sure the UK's chief drug advisor got sacked for saying the exact same thing.

he did get sacked for it. imagine him, being a specialist in the field, coming out with something so idiotic. i mean every person who works in government has been trained in the use / misuse of drugs havent they? thats why they are in such a great position to tell us what we can and cant put into our bodies.

the uk governmnet; the only place where an advisor gets sacked for advising :56:

Such a joke isnt it mate? I mean, the guy comes out and does exactly what hes paid to do and gets sacked for it. Its laughable. What do they have against a plant that makes people chill out with no adverse effects?

I understand a very small minority have an adverse effect to the stuff and develop mental illnesses, but it would be a raindrop in the ocean compared to the harm alcohol does to people.

Its non addictive, it doesn't damage the lungs of the user and it doesn't make you violent. Compare this to legal substances alcohol and tobacco where millions in the UK and billions worldwide are killed and maimed each year by adverse effects. Why are these not illegal? The answer is because the government make an absolute killing on tax from the sale of these dangerous substances and they love it.

How can you tax a herb? Impossible, hence the illegality.

exactly mate - the thing is if they went down the dutch route it would actually generate a massive amount of income for the government. a bit hard to legalise, and then make profits from, something you have done your best to demonise over the years though.
