Why do you think there is such a lack of transfer activity

We have been linked with just about every striker, midfielder and goalkeeper on the planet....I genuinely believe the board are waiting to see if we qualify for the later stages of the Europa competition - before they decide to release funds to the manager

    What do you think?

I hope they dont see the 5-1 victory today and believe they do not need to buy players.

i still think we'll sign 1 or 2 more. weve never been the quickest in the market especially when our squad carries over in full from the season before.

Let's just wait and see there is alot of behind the scenes work going on and there are still a couple of weeks left.

We haven't failed in any of our attempts to sign players. We refused to pay what either the club or player was wanting I am sure if they were worth it or wouldnt put us into so much debt (wages) we would get them. We play in the SPL have had a couple of bad seasons in Europe to generate income so have to be cautious

A few weeks ago people were concerned that if we signed players then Stokes or Hooper or Ki or Ledley were gonna miss out.

Well, with Izzy out long term, Kayal and now Hooper injured I think that argument is blown out the water. We need quality players to get us through the season.

    And a keeper.

A doubt it mate. a just think there not interested in spending any money because they think the squads good enough, making the same mistakes over and over again by not spending, if we dont win the league this year it will be our own fault/ boards fault for not releasing funds to the gaffer TO MAKE THE TEAM STRONGER/ once again by not signing 2 or 3 quality players to make us that bit better, i cant see us signing anycunt to be honest, we have all been here before and heard the * that comes out at this stage of the season and am not getting my hopes up once again just to be dissapointed when we spend no more money or add that little bit extra!!!!

I agree. Kelvin Wilson is a great buy imo I only think we need to make a decision on the goalie and another striker in. Buying a shed-load of players and having an overcrowded squad full of frustrated players won't get us anywhere. We bought 13 players last season but that doesn't mean we need to do it every summer!? January is where we should sign up more players imo, get some fresh ideas in as we seen last year with Commons

Keep faith in king Lenny! HH:shamrock:

That's the thing, the tabloid trash link us with about 85 different players every window, and we saw this season club after club were apparently about to come in and take away Kayal/Izzy/Ki/whoever, there's rarely any truth in it, they've just got to find something to print half the time.

I think the problem right now is, because the season's started earlier it feels like we've been caught out, but there's still a couple of weeks left so hopefully we'll bring in one or two more.

Keeper situation though...I just don't get it, we knew Forster was a loan, even if we were interested in loaning him another year or buying him outright, we should have been sounding out other propects long before the window opened, I really expected us to have someone in by now.

We dont need to go out and buy loads of players but we have offloaded Hinkel, O'Dea, McGinn and Thompson.

Also out injured are Izzy, Kayal and Hooper (possibly).

Brought in 3 players in Matthews, Wilson and Wanyama. Only one of them, Wilson looks like being a starter.

Now considering that the squad last season wasnt good enough to win the title, then why does anyone think that this side can take us over the line? Lets not use the fact that we have won our first 3 games cloud the issue. How many games did we win at the start last season?

We need a keeper, a midielder and a striker. And decent ones as well , if possible.

The Orcs, despite what is being said actually have signed more players than us this season, though you wouldnt have thought it given the lacksadaisacal approach we seem to be taking to getting players in.

Dont think anyone would have complained if we got the GK sorted although Zaluska has looked quite good in recent games but still Cervi as cover is not good enough

As each day passes I'm thinking that we are putting all our eggs into the one basket. I sincerely hope we are not going for a crowd pleaser (using our budget) as a loan deal rather than what we actually need.

A goalkeeper and target man striker are priorities.

I'd love to see him do well but 2 keepers aren't enough backup, need another one. Shay Given looked good for Villa today:rolleyes:

I heard last night that Robbie Keane is moving to a English Championship club. Haven't confirmed this yet but if it's true, Celtic might possibly have got him, he did well last time for the club and is still an excellent forward.:celt_2:

That fact of the matter remains - we need a GK and a ST.

Possibly now also a LB, another ST and MF to cover for Izzy, Hooper & Kayal (although I get the feeling Wanyama could play the Kayal role quite well)

Either way time is NOT on our side. We can make 5 signings in the next 24 hours but only 1 can feature in the EL qualifier.

The priority positions should have been sorted by now - i.e. the GK & ST.

If those two had been brought in we would be happy and even with injuries to our top 3 from last season would still feel confident enough, especially if another signing was made in time to be our 'wildcard' for the EL qualifier.

As it is, we are now panicking and some people were already going off their nuts - giving it 'aarrrggghhh, we need a keeper NOW, we need a striker NOW, sack the gaffer, sack the board, etc, etc, etc'

Even after a resounding win today I hate to think what the panic merchants are currently thinking/doing....

4 words should ease your fears; In Lenny We Trust!

Should but don't. The lack of activity does not engender trust and while there may be behind the scenes politics going on, the simple fact that very few quality signings have been made to date is worrying and blind faith will only take the club so far.

Today Tottenham accepted a bid from Ney York Red Bulls for £1.8M :31:
So we could have easily afforded him?!

We may have been able to pay the transfer fee but what about his wages and other contract demands?

Yes in Lenny we trust, however do you really trust Lawwell and Desmond to splash the cash, I don't. I reckon we'll end up with two loan players at best.

If we don't sign a decent replacement goalkeeper for Zaluska. We won't win the league. Simple as that. Of course we have won the first three games but I'm sure you will all agree that much more difficult games will be ahead.

Zaluska will let in far too many goals through nerves, carelessness and inexperience, especially in the big games.

Did no-one hear Lennon in his post-match commentary with BBC after the Dundee game?

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/scotland/14518432.stm

He talked of a few new faces arriving in the next two weeks, didn't give away any names though which is the correct decision so the tabloids dont go mad with speculation. We have also had a fair few players come in on trial instead of signing them straight away which is also a brilliant idea cause it allows for more analysis of their qualities by the manager instead of just scouting reports. Transfer window aint closed yet so any complaining about the lack of transfers should be kept until it is closed
