Justice is not always obtained by strictly following rules/procedures.

you honestly think if it was barcelona or manchester united who got screwed over that they'd just let it slide?

we have every right to complain about a team utterly defying the rules; in case folk have forgotten the guy who scored twice last night should not even have been playing

whether we deserve to be there is not for UEFA to decide; did Sion cheat? yes. should they be kicked out? yes.

Haven't Tranzbonsaspor just replaced Fenerbache in the Champions League due to a technicality? I bet they're not too worried about taking moral high-ground, and neither should we be, because we're not doing anything wrong, really. If UEFA insist we go through because the team we were playing should not have played multiple players because they obtained them illegally, then why should we say "no...we played *. We don't deserve it."

Based on performance, we don't deserve it at all. But it wouldn't really do much damage at all to our reputation to go through this way. Sion's reputation will be damaged, not ours.

How do you know we didn't deserve to go through, the result could have been different if they had played with a different lineup, * it was a banned player that scored twice for them.

How can you sit and say a team deserves to win like that, if it was the other way around how would you feel about winning like that?

at first i didnt want to get through this way but on reflection i want it now. as someone else said, this team needs the experience and its better that its a tough group. wehave nothing to lose in that group as we wont be expected to win it. better than having a weak group where we are all expecting to win. just as long as we dont get humiliated.

I dont remember rapid vienna fans complaining when the rules
went in their favour after we beat them fair and square at parkhead

No it doesnt, if they were cheating then * them, they had numerous banned players in their team and squad, They were stupid enough to play them and will pay the price.

It happened to us before, a fan threwa bottle on the pitch against Rapid Vienna, one of their players claimed it his them even though it went nowhere near anyone. Rapid complained saying their player was hit and we got beat in the re-match.

Exactly. Our reputation will only be damaged (further) after we are horsed senseless by the teams in group I! :50:

    I'm not even slightly embarrassed.
Rules are there for a reason, and when they're broken the culprit shall face the concequences.

I dont think we would be horsed tbh, there is much less pressure on EL group games than really any other European match. Last time we were there the games were like friendlies.

At the end of the day some of the players that shouldnt have been playing had a major input into the game , feindno scored 2, goncalves and gabri helped keep a clean sheet at parkhead which maybe if they hadent been playing the score maybe have been different.

If they are willing to breach transfer rules then the should be accepting the consiquences .

I understand what you mean and I would not be proud to be a Sion supporter either.

And indeed we do not know what happened if they did follow the transfer rules. So I am not claiming Sion deserves to go through, but I have my doubts if Celtic deserves to go through as well. Based upon the performances of the last week (including the SPL game - although this has nothing to do with Europe, but it says something abouth the team's current form) you cannot claim Celtic has a place in Europe.

A replay with only eligible players would be the only fair solution, but this would not be possible of course...

    I'm not picky.
How does Sion CHEATING bring a lot of damage to our name?! :97: THEY are the ones who played the ineligible players - not us. It's not like we told them to do it either. That would be like saying it was YOUR fault if you got mugged in the street!

How could anyone feel embarrassment because the OTHER team cheated? I think it would be more embarrassing if we were clutching at straws and trying to accuse them of cheating if they didn't just to get through - THAT would be an embarrassment, but the fact is they cheated, they broke the rules and deserve to be kicked out.

What's the update on this folks?
Will Uefa come out and say yes or no on the matter? And if so is it likely to be today?

I am fully aware of the Rapid saga, but two wrongs do not make a right.

    Ah thanks.

Do you think they will get thrown out? And would we replace them in their group with Athletico Madrid, Udinese and Rennes?
