Nice one. Managers always submit a list of players to the guy in charge of, well, signing players, so the fact that there manager left means another manager can come and have a totally different list :icon_mrgreen:

If he wants to play in EPL in future, then I think move to Scotland is a better option. Also having a compatriot to challenge for a #1 spot can be a positive thing. Plus there's the Boruc factor, he's probably aware of the status he had here after great performances, there's no reason why he can't be the same if he performs well.

Thing is that this is a great chance for us while Genk have more money and therefore have more options, some even better than Sandomierski. I hope we don't pass up on this chance because it's rare to have an opportunity like this for a reasonable amount of money. If we pay £2m it an be a very good investment for the future and his sell-on value can only increase.

    In short, just pay up.

"STV understands that Celtic's first offer was less than the £650,000 quoted by the Polish media last week."

FFS, i'm all for a bit of haggling but that is offensive. We are treating this mob like they are St Mirren or somebody!

Between the lines ....Stijn Stijnen, who was also linked with us, but didn't want to come over to play a friendly and was perhaps looking for a contract in Italy, has now signed for Belgian, mid-table team Beerschot.

Genk’s bid to beat Celtic in the battle to sign Grzegorz Sandomierski is being bankrolled by money from Chelsea.

The Belgian club have millions to spend – and a desperate need to win the race for the Polish star – after selling their 19-year-old keeper, Thibault Courtois, to the Stamford Bridge side for nine million euros.

Now, like Celtic, Belgian champions Genk have made Sandomierski their No.1 target.

The coveted keeper’s club, Jagiellonia Bialystok, have confirmed Genk have matched the second bid submitted by Celtic yesterday – believed to be around £1.4m – for the 21-year-old.

Despite interest from several other clubs, including Spurs and Swansea, it now looks to be between Celtic and Genk for the man who is currently on international duty ahead of tomorrow’s friendly against Georgia.

Jagiellonia are resigned to losing their keeper and want to sell in this window because they need funds to re-invest in other players.

But chairman Cezary Kulesza made it clear their valuation of their keeper is much higher than the offers so far received.

He said: “The bid from Celtic is very, very far away. We have not yet reached an agreement.”

Sandomierski has indicated to friends he would welcome the chance to follow in the footsteps of Artur Boruc, but the decision on where he goes could be taken out of his hands as his club dig in their heels in an attempt to prise as much money as they can from teams vying for him.

One avenue which could be explored is offering enhancements including a substantial sell-on clause for a young keeper who is considered to have the potential to go very far in the game.

But Jagiellonia would prefer the money up front, and Celtic are continuing to negotiate.

Sandomierski’s agent, Radoslaw Osuch, who brokered the deal to bring Boruc to Glasgow in 2005, is confident Celtic can get their man.

He said: “There’s still a difference between them. But I’m sure those differences can be overcome. If they are, I am ready to go to Glasgow with Grzegorz this week.”

Lennon is also continuing his hunt for another striker, with Bari’s Erik Huseklepp again being offered to the club.

Money for transfers could be boosted if more players move out, and Paddy McCourt is reported to be interesting Wolves.

Basically they can match what ever we bid for him.

I think we will get him, and I think its a bit naive that some people think we should rush in and pay the 2million.. its a game, negotiations are like this. You say you will pay the 2 million and it goes up to 3.. we have seen it time and again. If you want to get the right price you start your bidding lower and you hold firm.. see who blinks first, when crunch time comes and the window is closing thats when everyone really shows there cards and a deal gets done..
