Alreet Newcastle fan here, came from a Newcastle forum after the same thread was made, the Celtic fan (thebhoymalone) there felt it was a little unfair with a board full of Toon fans debating against him so i agreed to make the same thread here :celt_2: And im not here for trouble or abuse im here for good decent debate, anyway here goes:

Who has a better squad of players? now lets not be biased:

    ------------- Given

    Solano -- Taylor -- Bramble -- Babyaro

    -- Dyer -- Parker -- Emre --Duff

    -------- Martins -- Owen

    Other players:

    *
    Harper
    Krul
    *
    N'Zogbia
    Milner
    Ameobi
    Sibierski
    Ramage
    Carr
    OBrian
    Huntington
    Edgar

I replied to thebhoymalone with this post:

Anyway looking forward to a good debate with you guys, im from Ireland myself and am a friend of thebhoymalone, as being Irish i have a wee soft spot for Celtic :celt_2:

Newcastle are doing bad in the Prem because they have about 14 injuries, look at that starting 11, 8 or those players are injured, the rest of our injuries are in that list of back up players, to say Martins, Emre, Parker, Dyer, Owen, N'Zogbia, Taylor and Milner are brutal proves your lack of footballing knowledge and how dilusional you are when looking at the rest of the footballing world outside of Celtic.

Not only that but Dyer is proven in one of the worlds biggest leagues, with one of the worlds most talented international sides i.e. England, in the Champions League and UEFA Cup, i think McGeady will be a brilliant player but AT THE MOMENT you just cant say he is a better player, Dyer single handedly got us a point at the Emirates after a year and a half injured, thats the type of player he is and what he is capable of.

Dyer....good when fit, which isn't very often
    Parker ....good
    Emre.....average
    Duff....average
Martins....good, but needs to learn a bit more about the game
    Owen...past it
    *....past it
    Harper.....never had it
    Krul....never heard of him
    *....still past it
    N'Zogbia....potentially good
    Milner....good
    Ameobi.....see Martins
    Sibierski....past it
    Ramage....potentialy good
    Carr....past it
    OBrian.....decent
    Huntington.....see Krul
    Edgar....see Krul

In short, your squad is panther * compared to Celtics. In fact Newcastle are a joke of a club. Just because your fans are passionate about football and you have a big stadium doesn't make you a big club.

Yet another middle of the road EPL club kept afloat by SKY tv.:38:

Clear as day Celtic have a better back four, better midfield about equal up front

I like Newscastle but they have alot of useless players

ie every singles defender they have+with the money Newcastle have spent they should be ashamed of themselves their squad is no where near capable of doing anything in the EPL + Glenny is the worst manager in the EPL

Our defence is disgraceful, the youngsters are admireable but are only youngsters, Bramble, Babayaro, Moore and Carr can * off, as for Roeder, wouldnt say he is the worse, but definately one of the worst 5

About as pointless as your club.

I'm sure Michaels serious knee injury will help him regain past form :87:
He'll be back as good as he was before..............his last serious knee injury.

I'd take Martins & Dyer (if he can stay fit long enough) other wise I'd take Milner who is probably better than Dyer anyway (why he's not in your team).

Boruc is way better than Given, Naka is way better than the whole NUFC Squad, McGeady is similar to Milner in potential - but we are in the last 16 CL & have already beaten ManUre at home & scored 2 at Old Trafford, so the only way to compare the squads is by who they've both played this season & Manure beat you 2-0 at Old Trafford, where you drew 2-2 at St James' - What was the question again???

I used to love watching NUFC when Keegan was manager, pure quality - but alas them days are gone pal...good to have you on board though, you're now a supporter of a proper team...Celtic :50:

    I agree about Oweny's knees-£24M ???

Surely Newscastle must have looked at his jail-bait knees and considered if he was worth £24M

Good post, i agree with alot of it, Manure didnt exaclty put in a good performance at Park Head though, as for the last 16, yous have done well but its not hard to get Champions League football in Scotland if your a team like Celtic, but getting to the last 16 is a different story and well done to you all. I would disagree about the keeper comment, i think if Given signs for Arsenal in the summer in 2 years he would be quoted the best in the world by everyone, part of me wants him to have that success, the success he wont get at NUFC. If he joined a top 4 club years ago he would now be one of the worlds best, look at our defence and the job he has done. Its a top 4 thing, he doesnt play for a top 4 club so he is hardly rated.

Nothing new there. They've been throwing money at their team for years down there. With no effect.

I think Owen was 16 million, and he only went there because Liverpool would only pay Madrid half of that. Another tale of talent * away.

Look at Shearer, talk about * away talent. All those years wasted when he could have been competing in the Champions League and winning trophies.

Buy good defenders, sort our defence, strenghen our striking and our midfield and then regain a top 5 place, finished 7th last season and are about 5 points from 7th at the minute and there are months left.

isnt it admireable that Shearer wanted to commit himself to his local club? he came close to silver ware on many occasions, he is his clubs record goal scorer, he lived his dream and because or it is a hero in his home town, does silverware actually come close to that?

Disagree about BBC pundit Shearer because I admire him playing for the team he supported look at Henrik he could have lefted in his 4,5 year at Celtic and won a couple more CL medals however I for one was glad he didn't

True that is admirable. But a player as good as he was (the best striker in premiership history imo) should have more to show for his career.
