Can't beat the old Halloween films, I'm a big fan of the Japanese originals of Ringu, Ju-On: The Grudge, ect. John Carpenter is the master at retro horror, The Fog, The Thing, Christine, Vampires, Ghosts of Mars and a new one on the way, The Ward.

Paranormal Activity is pretty slow, but worth a watch. I'd love to see Insidious as I hear it's pretty scary.

Technically all horror films encompass some form of supernatural fibre. But to say The Shining is not in the same category as The Exorcist – which is very much the embodiment of a supernatural thriller – is not accurate IMO.

The Shining is a much more authentic depiction of eventual ascension into madness, whereas The Exorcist, at times, seems to border on parody.

I suppose it depends on how one defines horror; but I feel more inclined to be terrified by what I can truly relate to, rather than something too elaborate and far fetched - When A Stranger Calls is a good example of this.

    I recommend Rec 1 + 2 to all.

Won't say anything about them, incase I ruin them, but I highly recommend.

I remember it well Prof. Classic 80's horror. Pretty gruesome at times as well. Wasnt it a video nasty at one point?

Also had the legend that is William Shatner.

Sam raimi re-visits his horror roots in fine style and delivers a modern day classic :50:

I loved The Evil Dead and most of Sam Raimis work, but I was disappointed in this when I seen it at the cinema.

Just wasnt scary enough to be a horror or funny enough to be that scream/ comedy film that the yanks like.

Watched this yesterday as well mate......also thought it was *.

for me, they introduced 'Freddie' into the film far too early, and the storyline was gash as well.

Thought it was slightly better than 'Freddie v Jason' though:rolleyes:

I can't think of many instances where the remake bettered the original.
