4-4-2 v's 4-3-3

Ok, Barca humped ManUre last night with their 4-3-3/4-5-1 formation.

ManUre went for their 4-4-2/4-4-1-1.

As with Spain winning the World Cup & Euros using the same Barca formation, I wonder if the time to leave 4-4-2 is gone.

I'd love to see us play this formation a lot more, we now have the personnel to do this effectively - with only a couple of tweaks.

Wilson -- Wilson -- Mulgrew -- Emilio

Kayal -- Ki Sung -- Ledley

Brown --------------------------- Commons
Hooper

Obviously we could bring in Forrest for Brown, or play Brown instead of Ki Sung, Stokes for Hooper etc...

But I think we've got the personnel to play this system well.

Commons will get a lot of goals from that position.

3 in midfield will give us plenty of drive, protection & possession, especially with the 3 I've chosen here.

I'm sure Lenny has learned from Europe & must know that this is the most succesfull system in modern World football.

Definetely food for thought.

You can't play Brown in a front 3.

I think we already play 4-3-3.

or we can also go for the original 442 we had this season only with a new GK, CB and ST.

 

That's the position he played at Hibs, when we payed £4millions +.



I already said maybe change his position for Ki/Forrest.

I'm really talking about the system, not the personnel.

Replacing the players in bold, this is what I've been wanting for some time

 

Hooper isn't a lone striker.

Samaras would relish that role in Europe.

 

We basically do play a 4-3-3.

This. The only reason people think we don't is because the stupid TV companies always show the line-ups as 4-4-2.

Surprised there isn't some in here reeling out their bullshit about how you can't play 4-3-3 in the mighty SPL.

 

4-4-2 should be good enough in the SPL with the players we've got,

 

We could easily play the 4-3-3 at home all season though.

Its all about players mate you have to play to the strengths of the players you have

 

Always wish we'd play 4-3-3.

Also Brown did play in the front 3 with Hibs im sure when mowbray was the gaffer
