i think to be fair, we all know Celtic was started as a way to help the Irish living in Glasgow, so obviously a lot of Irish are going to follow Celtic and do. We have a lot to thank the Irish for (our major shareholder at present is Irish) But looking back through the clubs history, certainly on the park the people that made the club big were scottish - Jock Stein, the entire Lisbon Lions etc etc.

To say Celtic wouldnt be anywhere without the irish is rubbish in my eyes, a lot of fans come from over there and obviously therefore help the club make money, but I dont think we would go out of business tomorrow if the Irish stopped turning up.

The Celtic connection with ireland is strong, but since we play in the SPL we are a Scottish team, if we had won the Uefa cup it wouldnt be the irish league that got co-officiant points. Celtic need the irish support and the Scottish support, but there are as many passionate Scottish Celtic fans as there are Irish.

To basically say that Celtic IS Irish is stupid, because they are not, they are a Scottish club, with a large Irish following.

For this reason every thread you post in turns into a slanging match.

If guiness were bought over by an English company and moved their factory, staff, and offices to England, then yes they would be an english company.

Celtic are based in scotland with Irish roots, there is no doubting they would not have existed if it were not for the Irish, so i take it under your logic New York is an Irish city, what about Boston?

thats not what i meant the Irish had a huge impact on how NY shaped out, and by you saying celtic wouldnt be around if it wasnt for the Irish you obviously think that celtic applies to those rules too. So therefore if you think Celtic is Irish you must think New York is Irish.

And what do you think glasgow had at the time of walfrids idea of a football club to alleviate poverty in the east end of glasgow? Irish immigrants but it was and is still a Scottish city therefore a Scottish football club. Yes there was a lot of immigrants of various nationalities and the majority were Irish but does that make it an Irish City?? NO NO NO!!!
As i said before the fact that the Irish had a major bearing on the past and most probably the future of this club does NOT make it Irish:47:

Isn't it what makes us different from the animals, we have always welcomed everybody, no matter what country or religion he or she came from.

The mix between irish and scottish culture and tradition creates the spirit of celtic, which makes celtic so special and unique. whenever I'm in glasgow, you guys make me feeling very welcome, no matter if I'm foreign, and that is a grand thing and I really appreciate it.

We are like a big family and we have to work and fight and walk hand in hand to achieve great things. we couldn't survive without a missing part, we need our irish and scottish parts together to rock n roll!
