i'm sure if it was a case of ourselves or Leicester we'd be able to attract him.
I dont for a second begrudge a professional footballer with top pedigree earning top wages.

The only way we will make a move for him is if Leicester fail to sign him up! No way we will make a big move for him, we've lost our bottle in the transfer market last few years :54:

It's hard to take I know but if it came down to us or leicster, he's going there. They're minted for the level they are at. Sad times. :54:

Cant believe this mercenary badge kissers name is still been banded about. - Yet another "Give the board & Manager (mowbray) an easy time" signing. A waste of money the last time... Keane NEVER turned up against rangers all he did was score against the mighty Killie & Falkirk. And then we had the gullible fans outside parkhead at midnight giving it "heez gooni win ruz the league soan it iz" - The board have *`d about the last 4 years handing that lot on the other side the league title.

That's not possible. The MLS has a salary cap structure that only allows for each team to sign two players to money outside the salary structure. LA already has two: Donovan and Beckham. It's a strange system by football standards, but it helps keep the league competitive.

EDIT: I guess they could be shipping someone else off. Who knows? I am dubious of anyone still in the relative prime of their career leaving Europe for the MLS. I love MLS football because all the teams are so close in ability, but it's a massive step down from anywhere in Europe.

Republic of Ireland international Robbie Keane is on his way to Los Angeles where he will undergo a physical ahead of signing a two-year, $8 million contract with Major League Soccer's LA Galaxy, sources confirm to FOX Soccer's Eric Wynalda.

Keane is currently under contract to Tottenham Hotspur of the Barclays Premier League, where has has played since January 2009 (his second stint with the North London club). The former Spurs captain has been sent on loan in each of the last two seasons, spending time with both Celtic (Scotland) and West Ham United (England).
The 31-year-old striker has also appeared for Coventry City (England), Internazionale (Italy), Leeds United (England) and Liverpool (England) during a professional career that started in 1997.
Keane scored a career high 23 goals (54 appearances) for Tottenham in 2007-08 before moving to Liverpool. After half a season at Anfield, Keane transferred back to White Hart Lane, where he has been unable to recapture a place in the team under manager Harry Redknapp.
Internationally, Keane holds the record for most goals scored for the Republic of Ireland, for whom he serves as captain. His two goals against Macedonia on June 4, 2011 pushed him to 51 goals in 108 appearances.
Should Keane complete his signing, Los Angeles will be forced to move one of the three Designated Players currently on their roster. Major League Soccer rules allow each team up to three players whose salaries, which would otherwise cause the team to exceed the league's $2,675,000 salary cap, only cost $335,000 toward the team's wage limit.
David Beckham, Landon Donovan and Juan Pablo Angel each fill Designated Player slots for the Galaxy.

We need a target man keane is not a target man, we have hoops and stokes who do what he does, we need a large zigic/carew(who we really missed out on) type.

almost every team in the spl has 1 apart from us, * even stephen thompson who st.mirren got would have done us.

Why is going to LA any less ambitious than * Leicester? It's really an incredibly strong team by MLS standards (Donovan, Beckham, Juninho (the younger), Omar Gonzalez, Ricketts (best GK in MLS)) and they're pushing to win MLS for the first time in years as well as to try to weaken Mexican clubs' dominance over the North American Champions League. It's easy to make fun of it but your perception changes when you walk into a stadium in Mexico or Costa Rica with tens of thousands of rabid fans a stone's throw away. Plus, there's talk about an MLS club or two being accepted into the Copa Libertadores starting very soon.

as you say......a strong team by mls standards..........way below the standard in europe. i'm not trying to put down LA Galaxy and all due respect to them. but lets face it, the only reason he would go there is for the money. I have no doubt he will be a superstar there. but if it was for the football then europe is the place to be.

I think LA Galaxy would easily finish 3rd in SPL and be top half in a lot of leagues like Belgium, Norway, etc.
