If Samaras plays on Sunday...

Discussion in 'Celtic Chat' started by Conor1994, Apr 20, 2011.

  1. Stokes and Hooper should start but we will all support whoever is wearing hoops and on the pitch :ynwacelti

  2. That's a Given mate (not wishing to start a rumour).

  3. I dont want to diss Samaras, but we cant possibly contemplate going into the biggest match of the season with a player who couldnt strike a match never mind hit the back of the net when we have two players who are bang in form together.

I just wont believe that Neil will change them.

hooper and stokes for me but like homer simpson said lol, we should support sam if he starts.

  4. The problem is that Old Firm games can often be decided by who wins in midfield, which usually means playing 5 in the middle, so we have to play a lone striker. Hooper hasn't been great in that role and neither has Stokes, Samaras is the only one who has done well.

Having said that, since Ledley is injured, I think we should go for 4 in the middle and Stokes & Hooper upfront.

  5. I believe that on Sunday we should start with our strongest 11. It is a season defining game and I would rather we did it our way (cliché intended). That, with Joe Ledley fit, is the team you outlined earlier.

  6. Muldini...belter! :icon_mrgreen:
Fair play to the big man, if he'd played CB since the start of the season he'd probably be in the running for Player of the Year (Apart from the Motherwell game at Fir Park).

Back on topic, got to be Stokes because it depends which Samaras turns up. If he plays he'll either win the game for us or we'll be like a man down, don't know if we can take that risk in such an important game.

And Stokesy is our top scorer and deserves his chance, simple.

  7. Playing Sammy up front on Sunday is too predictable, we need to keep the Darkside on their toes by in my opinion playing Stokes and Hooper.
If you think we need a ball winner in the air, play Sammy in the Midfield (I don't think he's an out and out Striker anyway, more an attacking Midfielder).
Watched Sammy tonight and he is so slow at releasing the ball, I needed a shave by the time he passed.:celt_2:

  8. Hooper and Stokes must play together, to be effective. If Lenny wants only one striker on Sunday, it has to be Samaras.

  9. ...he will probably cause the Rangers defence all sorts of problems, like he has done in the past.

He is a confidence player, he is a big game player.

The confidence in the squad will be bubbling after tonight, and games don't come much bigger than this one.

Lenny values big game players for the big games, that's why he plays Sammy.

Also, the way Stokes is performing just now, I think he'd put in a good one too. So it's win-win for us on that front, whoever starts. :50:

  10. Believe it.

He left out Stokes out of an OF game before after he scored something like 8 goals in 7 games.

I think his run is something like 2 in 8.

    Samaras will play.

    That i do believe.

  11. He's awful! How * long does he take to release the ball when he gets it? He ruins any momentum to our attacks.

  12. Well I dont believe it!!!

  13. Hooper got a goal and 3 assists tonight. It would be hard to drop him

  14. I agree 100%. where is this myth that he is a big game player?? He played one game at the start of January against a poor hun team. Since then he has been rank, whilst Stokes and Hooper have banged them in.

We had a big game last month in the League Cup Final and he was posted MIA.

  15. I agree with this, if we're going two up front - then it's Hooper and Stokes.

One up front and it must be Samaras.

I don't understand anyone who would be angry if Samaras was starting alone up front on Sunday, Samaras has proved that he's capable of providing in the big games and under pressure.

I would like to see Hooper and Stokes start but I would be happy with Samaras up front alone too.

  16. i agree with this

  17. Id play sammy hooper up top 1st half, bring on stokes for either of them 2nd half, depending on who is playing well/who is tired etc

    In Lennon We Trust

  18. as much as i like stokesy btw hope he proves me wrong sunday but he is not a big game player and i think sammy always does it in the rangers games so for me its either

    hooper sammy

    or

    sammy

  19. I've got a feeling this time Lenny will start with Hooper and Stokes.
