Whit ? Your trying to blame the morgue-like Celtic Park and a widespread apathy amongst our support on the media ?

Thing is other than the last half season, this so-called bad style was just an inteligent systematic possession based game, ideally suited to the limited players he had, many of whom were SPL guys.

Never really played attractive football under Strachan, but always found a win. Especially late on.

I thought Strachan did a great job for us. I will always be a fan and thank him for all the great memories he gave us.

Nah, we were rank rotten to watch for years under Strachan hence the widespread apathy, reduced renewal of season books and morgue like atmosphere.

One of our best ever managers who won a trophy every single season he was manager. Also someone who was realistic, managed to put out a team who would usually play decent/good football (especially in the first two seasons) and a genuine and respected guy. Someone who loves football and has worked hard his entire career.

Also think he left Celtic with a genuine affection for the club.

He wasn’t as successful as MON, that is a Hun myth.

MON won more trophies and had a better European record.

I'm sorry, but this is ridiculous. Mediocre managers do not win three league titles in a row, lead us to the last 16 of the Champions League twice, whilst giving us some great European memories along the way and also win a few other domestic cups in only four years at the club.

You are obviously blinded by some unexplainable hatred towards WGS. Like it or not, he was operating on a tighter budget than O'Neill was and * near replicated the success of MON (only thing missing was a great European run, culminating in a final).

    HUN???myth. Madness.

The only stats that matter are the success in the SPL and CL

    3 out of 4 titles is a 75% success rate. 3 out of 5 is 60%.

    2 last 16s out of 3 CL efforts is 66/66%. 0 last 16s out of 4 campaigns is 0%.

There is no question that WGS was more successful in the two things that most matter. You can add all sorts of ifs and buts and crap stats but those above are what goes in the record books.

i agree with all your stats. i was never a stats man myself. all i know is the football was *, mostly, from beginning to end. i actually liked the man, loved his sense of humour that others hated. but at the end of the day it wasnt fun to watch his teams, successful or not, and i'm not a man who wants to sacrifice good football for success. only my opinion though.

  12. The guy won trophies for us and got us into the Champions League last 16 twice a successful time as manager i cant really grumble about the football we played under him it brought success at the end of the day i will always like Gordon for that...:shamrock:

  13. WGS = :62:

Okay his football wasn't the greatest to watch, but you can't deny the man the success and great memories he brought to the club.

One of our best managers wether you like it or not.

I thought the WGS supporters and opposers had agreed to disagree? I won't even attempt to get involved in it!!!!!

Thought the wee man was on top form on Goals on Sunday talking about Glasgow and Sir Furious and it was a great watch. I love to see him doing punditry and it was also good to see Big Bad John on MOTD2.

strachan done a fantastic job for this club, he eclipsed what MON done IMO, he will be one of the greatest managers in the clubs history but a lot of fans never took to him because of he wast ' a celtic man ', i was disappointed when he left but i dont blame him the stick he got off his own fans was unbelievable

He was never going to replace MON in any way, shape or form, but I will always thank Strachan for three marvelous consecutive titles and some wonderful European nights :shamrock: hail hail!

I am grateful to Gordon Strachan for the trophies he delivered and also for some great Champions League nights at Celtic Park.

However, I still say that he was arrogant, abrasive, his press conferences/interviews were an embarrassment and the style of football he had us playing was tawdry rubbish. For all these reasons I was delighted when he finally left.

Going to Celtic games had become a chore not an enjoyment in his last season especially (but even the year before), however, his success can not be argued with and for that I'm grateful and wish him well now.
