I've never heard of First Blood but I'm a big enough Prog Rock fan. Rush, Flyd and Genesis would be among my favs. I must say I have a soft spot for Phil Collins, even his soppier stuff :56:a little ashamed to admit that but what the * :icon_mrgreen: Oh and The Police, not strictly Prog Rock but still worth a mention.

Not my favorite genre, but appreciate the high degree of technicality that Metal requires. Surprised noone has gven Cannibal Corpse a mention as yet:

'Vampire of Dusseldorf' off 'Sinister Slaughter' by Macabre:

I listened to them when I was younger but not really anymore, still like a few songs like Innervision, Chop Suey, Aerials.

Cannibal Corspe wouldn't be a fav of mine but if you look at some of my earlier posts you'll see a big mention to some fine Death Metal bands, all a * of a lot better than Cannibal Corpse in my opinion.

    Innervision is a tune.

When my Mum first heard me listening to Aerials, she hated it. She thought it was a song mocking 11th September 2001. :56:

That's one of my favourite, more recent, system songs.

Saw them live in 2005 and they were brilliant.

I used to watch Kerrang pretty much every day after school and that song was often played shortly after the September 11th tragedy. So she assumed the song name had something to do with it. Probably didn't help that Serj and co look slightly middle eastern. :56:

They're Azerbaijani aren't they? I think one or two of them are anyway. I remember listening to Toxicity a lot back then, wow 11 years of age I was :icon_mrgreen: how time flies huh? Aerials is probably my fav song. Amon Amarth a Melodic Death Metal band covered it on their latest album and even though I would greatly prefer Amon Amarth(currently listening to them and I reccomend you give them a shot, if you want me to reccomend songs I will) the original is a lot better.

They're all Armenian Americans except Daron who is Iranian/Iraqi descent. Serj was born in Lebanon. Good ole wikipedia huh :icon_mrgreen:

Armenian-Americans as they describe themselves. Drummer John was born in Beirut, Lebanon. Daron (guitarist) was born in California but his parents were from Iraq and Iran. Shavo was born in Armenia. Serj was born in Lebanon. I think the Armenian-American label for the band came from the fact that they attended a school for Amernian-American people. Remember reading it ages ago and just searched online to double check.

I remember Toxicity was one of the specific things I had on my Christmas wish list in 2001. I was 11 too.

I'll look Amon Amarth on youtube. :celt_2:

I'll give them a listen in a minute, quite liking the Amon Amarth tune you recommended. The guitar melody from 3 mins in is great, really atmospheric and dramatic sounding.

From the tims I know, there tends to be a huge variety of music taste, including the neddier element of our support. :56:

:50: theres plenty more Melodic songs like that. Across The Rainbow Bridge, Cry Of The Blackbirds, Twilight of The Thunder *. To name a few more.

Would you believe I know extremely few tims personally, besides a few older lads, but my friends are too bothered with supporting an EPL team they have no ties to rather than support the team set up by their ancestors :54: shameful really.

You can blame Sky Sports for that a lot of that tbh.
