I was paying a bit more attention to him today, after all the speculation.

Very impressive display from him, stays on his feet, doesn't dive into challenges.

Coped well with the pace of Miller, and organized the dons defence superbly.

Looked like a decent player who wouldn't be out of place in our team.

    Bid in January?

not any better than what we already have... and that is the truth. well my opinion anyway.

we have good defenders at the club.. not great not world class yet or anything.. but neither is he.

and if a defender was to be bought. it wouldnt be him.. in my opinion.

it would have to be someone of ilk with cl experience.for me anyway.

It may be the tuth as you see it, but Pinocchio, Donald Duck, or Humpty Dumpty could play better than the accident waiting to happen, Booboo Balde!
    And thats guaranteed! :87:

He is as good as, if not better than Caldwell.

Plus you have to consider the club must be trying to get Balde of the wage bill, and so cover will be needed.

Buying a proven SPL player could be ideal, rather than gambling on someone from abroad to come in and adapt to the Scottish game. We dont want a Papic, Svenson, Rodriguez, FanFan, Sebo, Seonko, or any dud like that.

    Not a bad shout.:50:

But, doesn't play in the centre of defence regularly and wouldn't be eligible for europe this season.

Haven't seen enough of him really, but from previous threads a lot of Irish fans are not convinced with him.

    Please *, no

Great when he 1st made the breakthru, has not progressed or improved at all for club or country.Ah know Fergiehun shifts him around but he is just one big accident waiting ta happen.

Concentration is non-existent,always losing the lad he is supposed to be marking.First touch is bad, poor tackler.SPL he might get by alright,CL a disaster

I think Anderson would be a good signing. even though we have 2 good CBs if one gets injured we have to play Balde, who is an absolute calamity when the ball is on the deck

Melchiot ? ..Bridge.?..the young lad riggot from boro ?. theres plenty other options out there imo .. with more experience.. im not saying anderson is a bad player.. infact if he signed it wouldnt bother me welcome aboard etc as always.. any squad strenghtening is always good...im just saying he proven at the sheep and that is all.. nothing more..hes been generally consistent anderson.. but i have seen him play badly aswell..against a few teams. same with all defenders usually tho. so i cant knock him much.

You've mentioned other players there, but isn't this attitude towards SPL players a bit of snobbery on the part of Celtic fans.

Just because he's played for Aberdeen shouldn't rule him out for us.

i know that mate .. but what im saying is its a gamble signing spl players(gamble with foreigners aswell) .. proven in thier club in the spl aye fair enough.. but some just cant make the step-up in class. just because they look good in an average team in the spl stand out .. then its we must sign them..

weve done it with riordan (hibs best player)
    and pearson (motherwells best)

and both have failed. thats all i will say.. some cant hack it some can .. its a big step up in class and a big move. for any scottish players.. even say all the talk of thomson and brown of hibs.. aye they look good players atm .. but will they fit in and be exeptionall at us or der hun consistently or will they just be another good player in a average team .. and not make the step up... its proven quality ya need for europe wich is the aim.. not potential.. 9 times out of 10 ya have to be truly an exceptinall player , and character.. to get into the old firm teams .. and sustain.. not so much us .. but der hun.. they will need to try and raid the spl in the pound shop in january/ end of season for all they can and will probly be still to expensive for them...

whereas me im hoping we go out and buy world class and bring thru our own youth aswell... maybe 1 spl signing at most. we have enough.

I agree that the step up is a huge one. But every signing is a risk and it can be done.

    Jackie MacNamara did it
    Mark Wilson did it
Gary Caldwell has done well this season
