if there is a * then he sat impassively whist 6 million jews were slaughtered, whilst the Irish starved.... the list is endless

and before someone says those were man-made, he also watches with indifference whilst kids are swept away in tsunamis and earthquakes

so if there is a *, he is not infinately good, and he certainly dosen't aswers people's prayers

This world is far to complex to be created by a Big Bang. Therefore their must be a creator and in my opinion it is *.

No I don't mean something with some higher being per se. Like I said in my very first post. Everyone believes in something - here again that word - with something I mean either values, empathy, rationality, a higher entity like * or just principles.

You still can act without believing in something - mostly evil and dirty deeds would be the outcome. with no moral boundaries you wouldn't be doing too many good and positive things.

That's what separates us from animals.

So why does * only give some of people free will? It's clear those children in that picture don't have any sort of free will. They didn't decide to be born into a situation where they are dependant on International Aid for food. Surely he would have foreseen this mess and puts something in place to stop it happening?

Natural disasters like: Earthquakes, Floods, Droughts aren't a factor of human free will. If you believe * created the Earth then he is responsible for it's maintenance. He is all powerful, he could stop these things from happening. Why did he create the Earth to have Tectonic Plates? Surely it must have been a mistake.

This free will argument raises another problem, about Heaven. I'll quote this blog post.

I never knew there was a difference.

It is not *'s 'job' to step in and prevent all of man's evil actions.

Also, how do you know * doesn't answer people's prayers? I am sure there are many people in the world that would tell you they've had prayers answered by *.

Maybe he just doesn't answer yours because you deny his existence.

I believe in a *. In that I believe in something stronger and more powerful than us. Not necessarily an old man sitting in the clouds but an energy or something.

i'm on the fence with this one, i'd like to think there is a *, but until there is proof i won't worship "him".

Some things make me believe there is no *, like why does he let * things happen to good people, and why does he not intervene with earthquakes etc, i've had this debate with my RME teacher, and he says he gave us free will, and he's not going to control us like robots, but surely if he loves every one of us equally, then why does he let these things happen.

he also makes the point, that * may have intervened in many other fatal earthquakes that we don't know about.

It's hard to argue there is no *.....just wish he'd show himself, and put all this to bed :56:

Child who's Christian parents shunned modern medicine for prayer dies. I know because the kid died.
