The 2011 Nations Cup (also known as the Carling Nations Cup for sponsorship reasons) is to be the first edition of a round-robin football tournament between the national teams of Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland, Scotland, and Wales. It is scheduled to take place in Dublin in February and May 2011.

    Fixtures

    Republic of Ireland v Wales (08/02/11, 19.45)

    Northern Ireland v Scotland (09/02/11, 19.45)

Republic of Ireland v Northern Ireland (24/05/11, 19.45)

    Wales v Scotland (25/05/11, 19.45)

    Wales v Northern Ireland (27/05/11, 19.45)

    Republic of Ireland v Scotland (29/05/11, 16.30)

First game tomorrow night, Wales v ROI.

Although it's just like an exhibition tournament, I'll be happy if Scotland win it. And if Scotland don't then I want ROI to.

Wonder why England aren't in this tournament?

It's to do with the rest of us not taking part in the GB team at the 2012 *doomed to failure* olympics.

Would like scotland to win this and put on a decent showing with players like commons, dorrans and adam all in tremendous form.

To me its a great idea .

If internationals are to be played it makes sense to play neighbouring countries which means less travelling and it allows fans to travel.

Nice time for the Republic to get Wales who will be without Bale.

Dreading playing without Fletcher tbh. How does it work with the amount of subs you can use etc?

I was looking forward to it, but i dont think it is being taken seriously now :38:

A lot of people have been dropping out, treating it like a friendly

I would like to see it replace the World Cup/Euros during the odd years in the Summer alone. I would really look forward to the 4 countries coming to Scotland in two years time for example. Playing the competition mid season takes everything away from it.

I think you can use 6 subs. I read somewhere earlier today that Trapattoni was going to use all 6 subs at some stage tomorrow against Wales.

It should be structured better as it's an excellent idea, but it seems the players are treating it like a group of friendly games, Ireland should come out on top IMO.

Totally, the opening games are kinda glorified friendlies in February. Then the remainder of the tournament is more than 3 months later, with the sides having to play two games in four days, the first one just 3 days after the Scottish Cup final.

They could hardly have engineered a greater likelihood of players pulling out.

Decent very attacking line up Morrison seems to play in the hole for West Brom he might have been better than Naismith in there.

It might be Morrison in there, I just read the line up from SSN and thought thats what it would've been.

Infact you're probably right cos naibaws usually plays right wing.
