added nothing to the team. slow, poor in the air, plays with his head down, cant hit the target. everything you dont want in a striker. The only players I would give pass marks to tonight were wee Forrest and even though Im not a fan, I thought Brown was great when he came on.

 

Just had a look back there, had a few arguments with people when I first saw a thread linking him with us.

His G/S record is absolutely terrible, he quickly become a boo boy up here in Sunderland, the only person happy with this deal will be Samaras because he will be viewed as class after Celtic fans see Murphy in action. We want to see players go out and give 110%, Murphy is a lazy *, he wont bust a gut to win the ball back if he loses it, he wont score many goals up here and just generally would be a poor signing imo.

He did in championship, in prem he was a lazy * who refused to get back and win the ball back when he lost it, Celtic fans will soon get annoyed with him and will be a waste of money. Dont understand why anyone would want to take a stupid chance on him, he is at very best a decent championship player, Give me Chopra, Stokes, Hooper at least they will score a few goals in the spl. Murphy stopped giving 100% a while ago mate, why would we want someone who is a complete flop in the premiership? How is this progressing from next year? Im all for giving the players a chance before I judge but I have judged Murphy for the past 4 seasons and I know he shouldn't be putting on them famous hoops. Just look at the Sunderland forums, dont take my word for it, I would go as far to say he could be the worst signing of our season. I really hope I am truly proved wrong '


Looks like I was right to say he wouldn't be a good signing, not too sure why he was signed to be honest.

just back from the game, not got my season ticket this year but getting to a few of the games, anyway 1st time i really took a close look at Murphy..he is total useless! i never seem him win a header of purpose and his sitter summed him up! crap. defo need a new decent target man.

 

I agree. We have a team of gutless wonders Broony was a refreshing change when he came on

 

He made a good flick to Hooper about a minute into the game and after then it was downhill..
In the early part of the buildup to the offisde goal Murphy had the ball at his feet inside their penalty box before running it all the way out the box and playing it wide..
I'd be looking for someone to hit it when the chance was there.. He looks far too deliberate when instinct is required.. Didn't have a problem with him starting the game but felt he was given far too many minutes on the pitch when urgency was required..
Maybe he was kept on so long due to lack of belief in others.. Sammy etc or because McGinn was deemed to be the weaker link or easier player to replace..

 

Waste of a shirt Sammy far better yet takes far more abuse and Murphy is okay cause he scored 2 * pens at the start of the season the guy is * and not good enough to play for Celtic i would rather Killen back .

 

ive hardley seen him play but if you are sysing this then he must be utter balls

 

I think we signed Murphy from "Amey Highways" cos lets face it they have a lot of idle Traffic Cones standing doing nothing !!!

 

The loser in all of this is Killen. He wasn't near as bad as Murphy and so many compare the two.

I wanted to give Murphy a fair crack as well but based on all his performances so far, he doesn't cut it was a starting striker for me.

I think he's a player who can offer something different from the bench (if we're needing someone who is a threat aerial) but I don't think he's got enough quality to be starting games, that's for sure.

 

This guy should never be in the Celtic squad the guy's scorin record is pish,2 penaltys he scored woopdedoo..Sammy should be in before this guy.The worst Lenny signin has made i reckon...
