Green Brigade & Celtic FC Foundation - Foodbank Collection

On Saturday the 21st of December, before we play Hearts at Celtic Park, the Green Brigade and Celtic FC Foundation have organised a collection for the local foodbank in the Calton Parish Church on Helenvale Street. It's a sad state of affairs that such places exist in 2013 but the least we can do is try and help struggling families over the festive period.

There was a similar collection in the Maryhill area before we played Partick Thistle and it was really successful so we hope this one can be just as fruitful. Please give generously. All the details are on the poster below. Don't hesitate to ask any questions.

Thought id post something that's actually about the Green Brigade and something positive.

For one that lot were in it. That's instant shame. Their fans were there. Mega instant shame. Diouf was there. That's more shame. And the fat whispering cowardly cheeky chappy got away with everything. More shame.

Sorry to drag people back to the negatives, but some of their actions are not wanted by a large number of our supporters.

    I see.

Just to play Devil's advocate, would you not respect someone's point of view who may feel the Act to 'even things up' could be seen as merely the tip of the ice-berg in terms of Scottish society's (as well as its executive's, legislature's, media's etc) attitude towards the Irish and any expressions of 'Irishness'?

Fireworks and that yes... we could do without.

Don't see how a "large number" would not want anything else GB do though.

That's not what I was saying.

Club officials and SFA officials have come out with comments like "these are not real supporters" and "they are not wanted at Celtic".

But they are generally supported by the fans. Despite any minor disagreements myself and others may have with them I'd hate to see them go.

I agree with that. I probably still will vote yes but an independent Scotland could make things a lot worse for the Irish whichis a worry.

I would respect said person's POV, absolutely.

I completely am opposed to SNP's and Scotland's views on us, 100%. That does not mean that I will not be voting for Scottish independence - a vote for independence is not a vote for Salmond and his cronies.

The problems would then come in when salmond is voted back into power in an independent scotland.

There's no societal problem with the Irish when it comes to Scottish people. The huns would hate whatever flag Celtic fans flew. But that lot aren't a true reflection of Scottish society.

Outwith some * that is loosely to do with football, I've never had a problem in Scotland.

If they want to vote NO then that is up to them. But they'll be moaning when powers are taken from Scotland and they have to pay for their weans to go to college and uni, or for their health service.

And, no. I absolutely would not respect that point of view.

why don't these supporters make half the effort the gb do then? If this 'large' number of Celtic fans don't like the gb banners, they should make their own and if they don't like their songs they can surely sing over them if they are that bothered. Instead of just sitting moaning and then complaining on the internet.

    If.

I'll absolutely be opposed to Salmond on this matter if/when he is FM in an independent Scotland.

Simple fact of the matter is that there are a lot more pressing issues in regards to the vote for independence outside of how us * * are viewed in Scotland.

    Exactly.

I've posed this question numerous times to similar posters in similar arguments - never have received an answer either.
