Love the GB atmosphere! Give up because of Rangers/whatever? Not good! I will continue to support, simple as! Ignore the circus and rejoice in their demise!

They're not going to give up their season tics, because our board aren't going to vote the huns back in, simples.

I don't think that's their condition though? Are the GB not boycotting if a Newco gets in, irregardless of who votes what? I'm probably wrong.

The GB aren't boycotting yet mate, they're just saying in advance as a warning to our board - if you vote the huns in - we're gone.
Hopefully, our board take notice of this and do the right thing.

As long as the Celtic board do the right thing then the GB will still be at Paradise next year mate don't worry :50:

It's only other clubs they (and indeed every Celtic fan) will and should boycott.

So when the GB sing "faithfull through and through" they dont really mean it?? What they really mean is "faithfull when the board do as we say". Supporting Celtic isnt something i can turn on or off, i thought every Celtic fan was the same. I dont mind them giving their opinion but to basically threaten the Celtic board with not renewing their season books if they dont do as they would like them to do isnt something i would associate with Celtic fans.

I remember it well , but i dont think we ousted that board. The club was hours away from going out of business, thats what ousted the board in the end. There was demonstrations for years back then. That was when i first started going to watch Celtic. I remember all the "sack the board" chants and demos but i still went to support my team regardless what i thought of the board. I only ever remember a couple of games where they tried to organise a mass boycott but even then there was still a decent crowd in the stadium. This is in no way a similiar situation to back then, if the board voted to let a newco back into the SPL they would be doing it because they believe it to be in the best interests of the club. Not something that could be ever said of that old board you talk off.

The statement doesn't make any threat, it simply says they are waiting for further developments. Clear difference in the tone. They're clever with their written statements, I don't understand how moronic banners like the UEFA and poppy banners got through but that's another story.

by fans boycotting it stole the club of funds which would have seen that board still be in place and it also sped up the process of the bank foreclosing on us which played a huge part in fergus coming in when he did to say the fans didn't oust that board is a complete lie. it might be different but ultimately the board is their to represent the club which is the fans and so by voting in a newco they would be misrepresenting us and would be doing it purely out of financial gain and fans would have every right to protest and boycott games against them for this. as for their never being mass boycotts back then well thats complete horse * you used to be stopped outside the stadium by fans and told not to go in which most people agreed to their were some that still watched but the stadium was practically empty

Maybe because they are not as bright as you think?? The statement says they are not renewing and advice others not too renew also till they see what happens with the newco. Isnt that a threat??? Isnt that basically saying if a newco get in the Spl we wont be renewing??

I can guarantee the stadium was never empty. Yes there was some who stood outside protesting but what they took out of the coffers of the old Celtic board wasnt the reason that board eventually fell.

Your wrong about the board being there to represent the fans. The board are there to run the club, and run it to the best of their abilty. Fans dont run football clubs because the vast majority are not capable. If this board took this decision then they are doing it with business heads on and thats the only way boards can run a football club. If fans were left to run football clubs we would all be in the same mess that rangers are in. Whats next for the GB?? Will they want half price season tickets?? Will they demand we spend £30m on players every summer?? Celtic have a strong board at the minute which take hard decisions even though the fans may not agree with them, like when they bid for Steven Fletcher. Hibs wanted an extra £2m and we couldnt afford it. All iv heard since that is we should have signed him , we should have done this or done that. Bottom line is they are a strong board who take decisions on what they feel is best for the club and the long term stability of our club. NOTHING LIKE THE OLD BOARD who only thought of themselves.

Look I don't know why you're so passionate in defence of Rangers, they have cheated and deserve to be punished. Every right-thinking football fan, not just Celtic fans, are against the newco so just get used to it.

Some things are bigger than just a match, I don't ever want to boycott Celtic and i'm pretty sure the GB would be having huge regrets and feelings of guilt if they did, but sometimes you just have to make really difficult decisions.

What if a bunch of businessmen came in, took over the club and after a few years * us up like the huns or Blackburn? Would you still be going to CP every week because you're such a good supporter or would you actually be doing something to try and save the team you apparently love?

so you are saying we should just except the board decision to keep cheats in the league because its batter for our finances well I'm sorry but I for 1 couldn't invest in the club then and I'm sure many other couldn't and your argument loses all its weight as soon as you even suggest that. also I didn't compare the current board to the old board I was merely making the point that celtic fans and a lot boycotted games which you said you could never see happen even though it already had.

the bit in bold lets get straight I never said the stadium was empty I said it was PRACTICALLY EMPTY which was the case

    I agree with mfisher.

But I don't think rangers should be allowed to start in the spl if they are a newco, but celtic board could vote against and they could still be in, they only need 8 votes. I would just not go to away games.

Just renewed my season ticket just there, can't wait for lenny in europe :celt_2:

When have i ever defended Rangers??? Why would i defend them??? Just because i think there is another way of punishing them doesnt mean i am defending them so why are you making out that i am ?? Not EVERY "right thinking football fan" is against a newco.

Of course i would go along and support my team regardless what an owner was doing. I support Celtic through good times and bad. Yes i might protest but ill always go along and support my team. That is something that will never waver. The scenario you are giving though about business men * up our club as to a reason to not go along and support your team is entirely different as to not go and support your team becasue of something that happens to Rangers. Whatever happens to Rangers should have no effect on your support for your team.

Well i disagree that it was never "practically empty" either.

Im saying we should accept the boards decision. Im not saying you should agree with it, but yes you should accept it and carry on supporting your team. To say you wouldnt support your team because of something that involves Rangers is astounding to me. I really cant believe im hearing Celtic fans say that. To me that means your hatred for Rangers outweighs your love of Celtic.

At least 94% of Scottish football fans agree with me and not you. Not every, but almost.

The fact is Rangers MUST be demoted. There's no other option.

What if they are allowed back in, but perform so terribly (which is likely due to lack of quality, players and morale) that they end up in the bottom 6 or even get relegated? The SPL will have let them back in due to Sky contracts, which will of course be void if the huns were relegated, so what then?
Do the SPL rip up the entire rule book (once again) to stop them getting relegated? Do they suddenly enlarge the league to keep them up? Do they unfairly relegate an innocent team in their place?

You have to set standards and the huns HAVE to be kept out of the SPL if they form a newco, there's no other option at all. Set one bad precedent and you might as well just say "it's ok to dive, foul, even bribe in a match because rules are now deemed irrelevant".

You're not looking at the bigger picture. It's easy to say now, when things are rosy in Paradise, "I would always support Celtic" but if we were taken over by unscrupulous people who destroyed everything Celtic stood for I can guarantee you would not still be so interested, loyal and passionate.
Have you heard about Cardiff's owners planning to change the club colours?

Imagine if someone tryed to change Celtic's kit, logo or any other traditional aspect of our beloved club. It's not as simple as just going along every week because you're a fan, sometimes to be a real fan you have to actually stay away from the place you love.

Like Celts For Change and others forcing out the old board, that wouldn't have happened and we would be dead right now if it wasn't for fans making harsh decisions and - temporarily - abandoning the club they love.

It's not black and white mate, situations like this are very complex and you're trying to make it out as if anyone who boycotts a Celtic game isn't a real fan, in normal circumstances that is correct but these are very abnormal times indeed.

And of course Rangers matter to Celtic, they are in the same league as us, the same city as us and if they get away with cheating then we should be able to, which would make a mockery of and infact totally destroy the nation's favourite sport which has lasted well over a century until now.

Hating Rangers has nothing to do with it, Celtic have (rightfully and with very good reason) hated Rangers for decades before we even knew of any wrongdoing on their part, so I don't know why you're trying to link this anti-newco campaign strictly to hate for Rangers.
We will hate them whether or not they get away with this, but the reasons for being against a newco are nothing to do with hate, or love for that matter.
