Major League Soccer has put its foot down over Dwayne De Rosario's spell training with Celtic, insisting there is no written agreement allowing him to do so.

Neither the MLS nor De Rosario's club Toronto FC were aware of the Canada international's presence in Glasgow until pictures emerged of his first training session at the Bhoys' Lennoxtown training ground alongside former Arsenal midfielder Freddie Ljungberg, who is set to sign for Celtic later in the week.
Toronto released a statement insisting they had not given their club captain dispensation to train with the Scottish giants in the MLS off-season, despite being made aware of the possibility in November, and he will not be allowed to continue until an agreement is signed by club, player and league.
Toronto interim director Earl Cochrane said in a statement on Tuesday: "I was contacted a little more than a month ago by Dwayne (De Rosario) and his representative - asking if we would entertain a loan or training stint. We said we would but would need assurances and final sign off on it - that an agreement would need to be in place that we were comfortable with.
"Dwayne's agent contacted me and asked if we would let Dwayne train with a club and we said we would, but again would have to have something official in place that would provide us with some assurances that should Dwayne get hurt we would be covered. They understood that completely.
"I have not received anything official from Dwayne or his agent or Celtic. MLS will reach out to Celtic to clear up this situation and will do what is best for Toronto FC."

Celtic can easily afford to spend £1.25 million. Celtic COULD afford to sign messi for £200 million and give him a 4 year contract. However, this would be suicide. £1.25 million is mearly loose change in the world of football. Usually you look to be spending triple that amount for any half-decent talents over the age of 22

And you criticise the scouts that found Izzy, Hooper, Kayal, Juarez, Nakamura, Ki, Hinkel, Boruc and JVOH? Wow. You don't expect much do you :50:

MLS side Toronto FC will help Celtic secure Dwayne De Rosario rather than look to punish them for having their player on trial.

Bhoys boss Neil Lennon recently confirmed the club were looking at the 32-year-old Canada international with a view to securing his services.

It later emerged that De Rosario had two years left on his contract with Toronto FC and had not been given permission to travel.

However, the Canadian side are now of the understanding that Celtic believed all the necessary paperwork was in place and that they hold no grudge against the team.

"We talked with Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell and he indicated that Celtic had been told by both the player and his agent that they had permission," a league official told mlssoccer.

"When we are told that by a club like Celtic we are inclined to not move towards a legal action and instead work with them to secure the proper paperwork."

i can get around this, quite easily. My point is, if the huns get a "sugar Daddy" investor who pumps money into the club, celtic could easily compete with Rangers.

My point in bold is not that Celtic can attract players like messi, i mearly used him as an example. my point was that Celtic have the money to attract big name players -Keane, Ireland etc etc- but the reason they don't is that it isn't suistainable. As you pointed out with your bit about the losses over the last couple of years :50:

Edu peaked early and fell apart. He didn't tear apart the league either, far from it. Great for his age and no more. Often players don't fit in teams or leagues they go to - look at Shevchenko going from Milan to Chelsea. You can pick one of players that work out or don't. Over all the league is under rated by a long shot.
When I say it's as good as the SPL I take us and the huns out of the equation - I should have said that.

Ok. Adu didn't rip it up in MLS, especially when he was 14. He's widely considered a failure in theleague. He never did anything at DC or Salt Lake. In fact, Salt Lake only became a force in MLS after dumping him. And he's not even at Aris anymore. As far as Altidore, that Hull team was absolutely diabolical. They couldn't get it to their strikers to save their lives. JVoH, their highest scoring striker, had 3 goals in 31 matches that same season. Think about that. He's got a better scoring record at Villarreal (I know you won't be impressed by the Wiki stat, since I know that's where you're getting your info, but he has some goals in Copa del Rey as well that aren't counted) It was a bad year but that team was worse than useless at getting the ball to the strikers.

Mate I go to at least 6 or 7 Red Bull home games each year and I have watched the MLS since it started and it is not better than the SPL, their are teams in the MLS that are better than most SPL teams but as a whole Celtic and Rangers are better than anyteam over there, even with henry and beckham. IF you are going by preseason games you have to remember that they are in the peak of their season of fitness while we are just starting and we are using 2nd and 3rd string players in those games while they are throwing out their starting 11.

Of course Adu was a success, he was playing week in week out from the age of 15 and scoring goals. Then when he came to Europe everyone realized he was actually *. And I'm not taking any notice of the fact that Hull were bad, because that's no excuse. Hooper was one of the championship's top scorers last year and yet his team, Scunthorpe, were really really bad.

109 apperaences and 14 goals in the MLS. That's practically Daryl Murphy form.

Everybody thinks that about Freddy Adu because he was sponsored by Nike who put a * load of PR work on him.

Connor Sammon and Kris Boyd ripped it up in the SPL and there *. MLS is a below average league. So is the SPL.

No he wasn't. He rarely started, came on as a sub and yeah, scored a few goals. Players cause a stir all the time without panning out. You can't judge an entire league by one guy not working out.

13 goals in 98 games actually, and Adu was an attacking midfielder. That's great for a teenager. Why was everyone saying how amazng he was and that he was the next Pele if he wasn't a success in the MLS?
