Quite a bad start for us today, but then playing through two lines of defence always is, St. Mirren were obviously happy to draw. The first half I was annoyed at how easily we were giving the ball away, and not being creative enough in front of goal. The second half started not bad, but as we started running out of time the team showed some real grit and got many chances. All and all not the best Celtic performance I've ever seen by a long shot, but we definetly deserve the win, and to be fair the team responded greatly to the pressure of what looked like an embarrassing draw. We are still biting at the Huns heels. Won't be long till their tiny squad falter and we are numero uno. Though, sticking to realism, there really does need to be an improvement throughout the squad, we need to word on our possession.

loved lennon's sarcastic wee wave at the camera at the end, did anyone else notice it? :56:

look, we didnt play too well first half though to be fair i thought st mirren did a good job containing us so credit where its due

lennon made the subs and won us the game, what more can you ask for when the teams not firing on all cylinders?

i know its a cliche now but we most definitely would not have won that game under mowbray or in strachans last couple of months

Ki was excellent today as the manager pointed out.

Juarez can leave in January if he wants and Stokes should never play up front with Hooper. The game changed in our favour when McGinn and Murphy came on. McCourt got us the victory in the end though.

overall we deserved to win the game its never easy when teams set up very defensively against you. couldnt understand lennys thinking in playing cha at right mid. mcginn should have played and it showed when he came on as sub. i didnt think anyone was brutal. hooper and stokes were quiet. juarez was workman like never did anything brilliant but did ok i think he just needs a run of games but dont think he will get it as ledley will come straight back in to the team next week and rightly so as he has been one of our best players this season and we missed him today. defensively we were solid kept them to long range shots. ki was the best man on the park especially towards the end of the game he got the game by the scruff of the neck and pushed us forword. maloney was quiet for most of the game but burst into life in the last 20 minutes. its fair to say the subsistutes won the game for us mcginn, murphy and macort all did well. fair play to hooperman he was in the right place at the right time hail hail .

Padmill, cant help but think you're the only one who thought ki was *.

My advice is watch it again, and then post again saying what you think.

i can't get my head round, how you think he was *?

i think our midfield wasn't good enough in first half.. all we did is crossing the ball.. but second half was good.. especially last 30 minutes..

ki amazing passed the ball to mcginn from the center of the field.. he was better than juarez in my opinion..

Ki should of been man of the match imo, not sure why anyone would criticise him (except he's been pretty * at set pieces). But to be fair, the game was *, and Celtic did play pretty * considering the opposition. Not the performance of a champions, which we all hope to be come this time next year.

and why did you think the game changed, as up to that time we never had any one getting up the park often enough, hold up play by ball control, hemmed then in, what paddy done, is what i expect from maloney, but i feel he fails to deliver that style of play, most of his passes hit of opponents 99% of the time,

Why would i want to watch that game again...it was utter pish(apart from the goal obviously)

Okay...how about i meet you in the middle here....perhaps i was a bit hasty in saying he was *......but i still fail to see how it can be said he had a brilliant game? He had ONE excellent through ball to McGinn...thats about it?

Hooper is proving to be an excellent signing, he's turning into the guy we can rely on for the big moments like all the best players do. Ki played well but we definitely missed Ledley in the middle, Juarez has a terrible attitude.

Overall it was a terrible game with 1 big moment.

Although the game was pretty poor to watch, I seen the stats and we pished on them even thought we looked uncomfortable at times.
    Shots - 22
    On target - 10
    Possession - 55%

I never said he did anything wrong as such....

He wasn't effective enough for me.

Yes his distribution was okay but not attacking-wise.....how many times did he have the ball outside the area and never took a shot?

See for me, 55% against St Mirren is not enough. Team as good as Celtic, with the ambition that we have, we want to go on to challenge in Europe & dominate at home - really should be around the 60-65% mark against a team like St Mirren, we need to work on our ball retention. We like to pass it around, get a feel for the ball, thats the sort of football we play, so we need to be able to hold possession for long periods of teams. The wee teams are catching on that they need to rob us of possession, they know how to beat Celtic.

Get what you're saying. I did say it was a poor game but I think alot of that was down to St Mirren breaking up alot of our passing, and a few * passes on our part. But 22 shots, 10 on target. We really should have scored more and not have waited til the end.
I jsut found it surprising coz I didn't think we had that many chances.
