  1. my wife tells you to fu.. off :56::50::celt_2:

  2. :icon_mrgreen:.

I know a lot of people like them, but they're singers and that's about it. Being a singer is different from being a musician.

  3. quoting my wife: ronan keating wrote a lot of the songs himself. :shamrock:

  4. x10...

Favorite songwriter has to be Perry Farrell / Janes addiction, the second side (in old money) to Ritual De Lo Habitual album was some of the greatest songwriting I have ever listened to, the guitars and vocals building up to a massive crescendo that blows me away, If anyones not listened to this and likes Alternative music give it a go.

  5. Favorite musician is John Butler.

  6. Brandon Flowers. Genius and showman.

Only ever had a passing interest in The Killers until 2005 when I seen them live and he was enchanting and I've loved them ever since. Their music is catchy, their lyrics are thought provoking and the show they put on is high energy and engrossing.

  7. Can't even begin to think who is my favourite musician but this thread made me think of John Martyn.

I've actually only heard a fraction of his stuff but if you like the accoustic guitar, his album 'London Conversation' is tremendous. Look him up lads.

  8. Steve Howe, guitar player with YES and Asia, Rick Wakeman, keboards also from YES and the Strawbs.

noticed a lot of people have named people who arent musicians, singers are not musicians!

    READ THE THREAD TITLE!

  9. Sorta disagree, I mean Julian Casablancas writes all the stuff for The Strokes but doesn't actually play anything live, just sings, I'd probably class him as my 2nd favourite musician. I'd class a singer as a musician if they have some kind of input in writing the song. Jay-Z and Eminem obviously don't count though as "musicians".

  10. with all due respect the artists mentioned in the op are not really musicians as such, well not what i would class as musicians.artists, yes, but a musician for me is someone who plays and writes music on an instrument.personally i don't like hip hop so i would just class these guys as rappers and djs who sample music someone else has written but i can still respect them as artists.

for me the greatest musicians have to be:

    guitar-kurt cobain
    base-paul mccartney
    drums-keith moon
    keyboards-ray manserak or booker t

  11. But to write songs you must be able to play an instrument/s.

  12. :50:

Best band i've ever seen live. Brandon is a legend, he's so full of energy through his performances and totally owned the stage.

  13. Oatus redding,U2,Athenrye,the who,rod stewart, the rolling stones,2pac,james brown, limp bizkit,Some of the beatles stuff is actually alright but the fact there called "the fab four" and were the 1st boy band gets under my skin i despise paul mccartneys face in the 60s....i mean stop giving the thumbs up you annoying little bowl cut.

  14. Paul Weller, Ian Brown,Neil Diamond to name a few. As for bands you can`t beat a bit of Rolling Stones or Stone Roses.

    dj tiesto,dj klaas, guru josh,eminem

  15. Ian Brown is my *

  16. None of them are musicians?

  17. ehh they are in my eyes, don't really care what you think.

  19. Matt Bellamy has been my favourite for years and years. Particularly Showbiz to Absolution, including Hullabaloo and all the b-sides. Just brilliant.

    Also, Eddie Vedder.
