Another transfer window, another profit

Discussion in 'Celtic Chat' started by paulie walnuts, Aug 31, 2010.

  1. Know the window hasn't quite closed but it looks like we've come out of another transfer window making more money than we've spent.
Early days but some of the new signings look promising and others not so.
Cant really see how we expect to make progress however when we replace high value players with cheaper ones.
    Any thoughts?

  2. 9mill out, 15mill in

    spend the rest on keane?

  3. i'm liking your thinking :50:

  4. Or spend a little n get Keane and a centre half

  5. I just posted on another thread that it is a disgrace if we don't sign anyone else. We are about 10mil up this window which shouldve been straight back into the team instead of being put into lawell and reids bonus

  6. At the very least.

  7. Well the profit won't be going to Reid and lawell's bonuses, but i do agree we have made around 6-7 mill in profit this transfer window and unless they are going to surprise us at 11 tonight it will be slightly disappointing that there is no number 7 in the team, i feel we either need a striker or a Attacking midfield player that plays in the hole like maloney. Aka McFadden :p.

  8. We have signed a full team so far but still need a central defender and maybe a goalkeeper, the 10m for mcgeady i think will cover the losses for the last 2 years for not getting to champs league & mowbray and his merry mens compensation.

Im happy so far and hopefully after what 2 years? we can finally allow a team to gel properly.

  9. We cannot afford to put all the earned transfer money back in. We've signed tons of players already anyway. That money will go towards limiting the debt.

  10. are you serious? 11 new players in and folk are complaining. get * real.

  11. We've still made a big profit though. It's easy to make 11 signings but are they all better than what we had already?

  12. Yes

  13. a transfer fee doesnt dictate how good a player is.

we cant afford to splash out mad money and even if we could i doubt many quality players would come, we've done well, lets be optimistic for a change?

  14. the more money that lawell saves the club the bigger the bouns he will get, thats fact he got over 200 odd k two seasons ago and got an other big bouns last season aswell

  15. 5.8m of debt that can be paid off with the McGeady money

    and still 4.2m left over

lennon had a budget before we sold Mcgeady then he said he was getting all of the Mcgeady money aswell

so even if he does not get it all then with MAF going for 2.5m and stokes coming in thats an other 1.3m on top of the 4.2m so we now have 5.5m left over.....

  16. not got a better GK, have to see what forrester is like but he is only on loan, still need a CB mabe even RB still not sure on cha will see how he gets on, lost Mcgeady and not got somone in for him and we don't have the same forwards start of the season we had skippy, better record than what we got and then had keane for 6 months again much better than what we got now

we have got alot of new players in wait and see if they are better

  17. or we could see the fact we have only spent 560k on our back 4 and we still don't look right and lennon and thompson have said so themselfs and want to still add to the back 4......

Agreed. Way too early to say categorically that the new signings are better than what we had.

  18. Did you see the Utrecht game last Thursday?

  19. we signed 1 cb, we need another, hopefully we'll get that tonight.
