Stokes speaks about signing for Celtic.

He can score a shitload of goals but we've pretty much been moving towards a 1 striker system lately (although Fortune featured on the wing).

Will Stokes be the lone striker? Will the 5 man midfield be chucked out the window before it's given a chance (very unlikely).

What does this mean for Hooper because to me they are identical type players?

Hate being a pessimist but he is a stonewall bencher for me.

 

stokes will score more than hooper. with the team weve got, 4-5-1 is the way to go. id rather have another juarez or mccourt in midfield than another finisher upfront.

I agree with you but I don't really see Stokes or Hooper being first picks at all. Going to be hard for either of them to get 20+goals a season with a handful of games each.

 

Personally see Hooper as first choice striker...Why would we go for him first, then Stokes only once Hooper was out for 6 months?

Hooper will be a more prolific striker as well I think. Even though hes not played in the SPL before.

Having said that, Sammy could also feature alot this year...Another 6months of playing him hoping he reaches his potential or put him on the bench, totally ruin his confidence and essentialy be a striker down all season? Difficult one.

 

4-5-1 was the way to go against Ultrecht in the 2nd leg, oh well you live and learn!!

Not over optimistic with Stokes but I haven't been with any striker in years but I honestly think he will score goals and plenty of them. Before jumping on his back right away see how he does. Was anyone so critical of McDonald when he signed? Imo they come from the same background, SPL goalscorers with the potential to excel at a bigger club

 

Hooper will be first choice though I think

He sounds a lot more mature now, his attitude had really improved.

I really hope he becomes a fantastic player and plays for Celtic for a long long time.

Can only hope he goes on from strength to strength. Think he'll play for the jersey. He's very young and has played for 7 clubs already. Said yesterday if it was up to him, he'd sign to play for Celtic for the rest of his career. That's the attitude we need, now if he only he can develop his game to be the real deal for us!

Getting Stokes on board and at 1.2m a good price for a man who scored 23 goals last season is one of the signings that pleased me most this transfer window. Looking back to Sundays game for instance I feel with Stokes on the field up front alongside Murphy we probably win 2 or 3-0. I see us playing with 2 strikers so I would imagine at this point Stokes and Hooper when fit are the starters with Murphy and Samaras as backups.

 

ive got a tenner bet on with a daft hun at work who thinks kenny miller will score more than stokes.

 

Stokes was at sunderland, so he definately has something more to show. He will be the top scorer this season

 

Think you're onto a winner there. Miller won't keep scoring like he is.
