Fortune was a striker who spent all his time on the wing doing neither job well. Sums it up really.

strange. i think that it was entirely necessary. you expect a striker to score goals. Fortune simply didn't. even if you defend him on the created he created or his ability to hold up the ball, he never did. he gave the ball away as much as Samaras.

Samaras and Fortune are equally poor as one another, but Samaras at least scored. i would rather had two U19's starting ahead of these two muppets.

Well thats what he did, i prefer it when he did it up front, but they put him on the wing and he did a similar thing their. It is there "ROLE". I fail to see the funny side of that.

I agree, but he isn't a winger. He was only playing to his "strengths". On the other hand, I don't really see how he's a striker either. He'd have been decent at rugby, but he rarely goes in where it hurts. I don't know what he is, but all I know is that he was, for the most part, rubbish for us. Maybe he'll prove me wrong at West Brom. At least he'll be motivated by playing in the EPL. Lack of motivation and lack of spirit sums the guy up for me.

I would say that Samaras is statistically more consistent than Fortune and yeah add to that, the fact he scores goals. Not that I'm saying he's a good player, he's just substantially better than Fortune because Samaras has actually done things for us.

Lack of motivation? With a fan base treating him like that i wonder why he was demotivated.

He wasnt the best i agree, altho i thought he was more effective out wide rather than upfront, marginally, papers saying we got £2mil for him and another £250 grand at the end of the season subject to appearances, not a huge fan of stokes either but hopefully he'll give us a little more fire power if he signs.

where do you think forwards play? and what did you think he would offer to the team?

to me a forward is a striker and i thought he would score goals but all he was was an empty jersey.

Well to me there is a difference. I would prefer him to play up front alongside a goalscorer, but instead we play 1 up front so he has to make do with a midfield role, where i feel he did a good job.

But theres not point discussing what could have been, hes gone now.

Are you kidding? The fans stick by you if they see you improving after a period of adapting. There was no improvement or heart from the man.

No, the fans got it into their head that they dont like him, so hes their scapegoat for everything, if he started scoring goals "oh he should be doing that". After last season there was a lot of improvement, and there was a lot of heart from the man.

Obviously I, nor anyone else, can make you see sense Danny. It's your opinion, though I fail to see any solid evidence for the reasoning of your defence. If he started scoring goals, people might have said that because that's what's expected of a striker, but alas he didn't and that opinion is sheer conjecture. Continue to live in your world of candy canes and lollipops.
