was he not? what makes you so sure of that? his pish goal scoring record?

Mowbray said on the posibility of signing stevie fletcher : I just don't think he's ready to be our 30 goals a season man and opted for Fortune instead. As soon as it became clear he wasn't going to score here Mowbray pushed * about his work outside the box etc.

He's a striker. his job is to score goals.
Maloney forrest McCourt and Samaras have all scored while playing on the wing already this season.
he never scored many last year either when he was used as a striker
something like a goal every 4 games. PATHETIC.

No. Fact is we probably have to sell players, because of European failures, but Fortune is not where it should've started. Anyway he produced more often what was asked of him than a lot of others in the team and had a very good start to the season playing out right. Was the fee too high when we signed him? Probably yes, but it was unfair that a lot of the fans were on his back from the get go regardless of how he played.

I don't know how anyone has the energy to defend Fortune's contribution, how many times has he let us down?

Hes not a striker, he is a forward, and his style of play is to hold up the ball and make things happen. Not go and score 30 goals a season. We always knew this and people still slate him for it.

Yet he still got treated like * by our support. Thats "pathetic".

As far as I remember it was made clear from the start that Fortune was brought for what you call "his work outside the box". That was a topic of discussion, while the deal wasn't even made yet I think.

And the Fletcher stuff is bullshit, Celtic wanted to sign him, Hibs didn't want to sell him to us, didn't Lawwell or Reid confirm that recently, so whatever Mowbray said is irrelevant as facts about Fletcher speak for themselves.

He was brought in to be our '30 goals a season man'. He was brought in as a STRIKER. He was brought in to SCORE. Not to give 12 goals and 10 assists....:56::56::56:

Gutted, obviously wasn't a striker but thought he was going to be a useful player this season. Who's going to hold the ball up front now? If anyone was to go after last night it should've been Sammy. I can only assume he's on cheaper wages though. This has got to be a result of not getting into Europe and the money that comes along with it. Don't expect to spend any of this money lads. May bring in Stokes but I can't see too much more.

I don't agree he was treated like * anyway. who didn't support him at the games? fans are allowed to vent their feelings on forums, Fortune received our support when he pulled on the hoops but he just wasn't good enough

No he wasnt, he isnt an out and out goalscorer he never has been so i dont know where you get that from.

12 goals and 10 assists? Thats pretty good on a shocking season. His style of play means that he sets up more goals then he scores.

if he was brought in as a hold up the ball striker he should still have scored more goals really.if you're up front for either us or them you should be scoring more than 15 goals a season at the very least imo

he was played in place of mcdonald basically, what did mcdonald do? score goals. Mowbray continually dropped skippy for fortune instead of playing him with fortune
