AIDEN McGEADY will wreck Neil Lennon's spending plans if he snubs a £9.5million move to Moscow.

McGeady was in the Russian capital last night for contract talks with Spartak.
The wantaway Celtic winger will miss tonight's Champions League rescue mission with Braga as he ponders the record-breaking switch.



Hoops boss Lennon admitted the 24-year-old was "apprehensive" about going to Moscow.
And Lennon knows there is no guarantee that the Republic of Ireland ace will agree to the switch. But he confessed that McGeady's sale holds the key to the final part of his sensational summer rebuild.
Lennon still wants a new keeper, left-back, centre-half and striker before the transfer window shuts.
Asked if incoming deals hung on McGeady's departure he said: "Probably yes because I won't have nine and a half million quid! I'd like to think we'd get all of it if he did go.
"What comes in goes back out on the football side. That's been made clear.
"I think we need a couple of areas to improve the squad. But I don't think it'll take all that money to do that. It's up to me whether I spend that amount or not."
McGeady travelled to Moscow with his agent and girlfriend yesterday.
Spartak are a club in turmoil after plunging to eighth place in the Russian League.
Coach Valeri Karpin could be sacked if they lose to leaders Zenit St Petersburg this weekend.
Owner Leonid Fedun has been besieged by angry fans demanding he secures McGeady's signature.
But Lennon remains far from convinced that the winger will sign for Spartak.

He said: "He's in Moscow - that's as much as I know.
"He was a wee bit apprehensive but he's gone to have a look at the facilities and the stadium and see what Moscow can offer him.
"As far as I know he was travelling today to speak to Moscow and have a look at the club and the surroundings and take things from there.
"This has dragged on a bit longer than what we wanted.
"I'd like to think we'd get a definitive idea after this.
"I need to have a chat with him and see how he is. Does he still want to be here? Does he still want to play here? We'll have to take all that into consideration.
"He may want to play in the Premiership but you can't always get what you want."

Think we knew that anyway. Whatever is generated from sales is put back in the squad. So if Lennon needs to get his guys in it depends on Aiden leaving, think we all knew that.

 

Basically forcing him out of the club this way to make space for new signings.

 

Don't think Aiden will want to go to russia, probably has it in his head to go to the EPL, even if we've accepted the bid it's up to him to agree a contract, could easily end up staying.

 

Only way hes leaving is for the EPL. Canny see him going to Russia (permanently. I realise hes there now).

 

if aiden signs for the ruskies i'll be surprised......maybe it could bring him back to earth the fact that the premiership arent falling over themselves to sign him. doubt it though. i get the impression he's so far up himself he couldnt tell were his colon starts and his forehead ends.

Nothing on you mate, but I hate when people say such things such as 'wikipedia reports...' or wikipedia is a source etc.

They are not a entity to report anything, they are just a datebase open for Tom, * or Harry to state whatever they desire. There is literally zero point what-so-ever linking to wikipedia and I wish people on this site as well as Kerrydale Street etc learned this.

 

I wish Aiden hurrys up and makes his mind up soon. We need the money.

a dont think were skint if mcgeady doesnt go. a bit o.t.t . a just think well be able to get better players in if we get the 10 million. hope hes goes to the prem n shows evrybody what a good player he is . recently most celtic fans have been under rating him. !!!!

Nope.

 

If the board can't finance the rest of the signings without the sale of McGeady, it's our own fault. We'd knowed for a looong time, that we needed a replacement for McManus, Naylor and Boruc. Before we even knowed McGeady was thinking about leaving.

Anyhow, he does not deserve to trying to be forced out. Quality players who have stayed loyal to Celtic for years, deserve be treated as heroes. Not to be forced out of the club.
It should be up to Aiden if he wants to leave. Not his responsibility to finances Celtics signings.

 

Why does everyone want him to leave so bad? He basically had to carry the full team last year. He had our most assists last year aswell. We will really miss him I think. And Since when the * did we become a selling club!
