Hooper's goals will see us into the group stages next year and earn us more than £5m. As we have no immediate replacement (Stokesy, as good as he is, won't fill Hooper's boots and ideally we'd have both in the team, Watt's too young) then I'd rather tell Norwich to go take a good * to themselves and just let his contract run down unless they're offering somewhere in the region of £8m-10m or Hooper renews his contract. I think Norwich think they can still pull a fast one with SPL clubs having heard some of their fans' valuations of our players (some valuing Hooper at as little as £2m, for * sake)... Fans of the bigger clubs in England like Arsenal, United, Liverpool - when talking to them about Wanyama and Hooper - seem to value our players quite highly and would agree with the valuations of Celtic fans. I think because they recognise what level you have to be at to be successful in the CL.

Pilkington and Hoolahan, and we'll let Norwich have Hooper for £4.5 million.

5 million is a complete joke of a bid.

My hairy * it is. The thing that makes no sense is bidding LESS than has already been rejected for a player! Norwich surely know we've already turned down 6 and 7 mill bids, so I have no idea why the * they thought we would sell one of our most crucial players at the most crucial point in a crucial season!

Well that analogy is too ridiculous to warrant any response. And because it wasn't enough to get us to the table, it's insulting? Again, nonsense. In order to get us to talk, they're going to have to offer pretty much exactly what we want for him seen as he's under contract and we're very keen to hold onto him. This offer is merely an opening gambit; registering their serious intention to acquire the player in this window while being fully aware that their offer will fall short. A tactic we have used frequently and fruitfully in the past.

It is insulting, top English scorer in the Champions League and they offer something derisory like £5m! They can go * themselves.

Totally agree. Well done to Celtic and Lennon for telling Norwich to take a hike with the 5m offer. I would rather of course Hooper would sign a new deal and stay. But that seems unlikely and unlike others it seems Hooper has wanted away for a while. So if indeed that is the case no way should Celtic be saying yes until we get at least 8m.

Well, he only has 18 months left on his deal so that could reduce his value. Secondly, it makes no difference whether it's less than previous bids, Norwich weren't seriously expecting that offer to be successful, this is just an opening offer. And the reason they thought we woud sell Hooper during such a crucial stage in the season is because we have done so in the past, and will almost certainly do so again if the offer is right.

When have we ever sold our first choice striker in January?

    This

If they want new deals that are matching the top earners at the club, then they need to be given those deals. If they don`t want to sign new deals, sell them in the summer for a profit but we do need these lads for Juve, especially Wanyama

If Hooper wants to leave a last 16 CL side for a mid table Norwich side, then I would feel embarrassed for him but I`m sure he will stay until at least the summer

When was the last time we sold one of our most important players in the middle of the season?

Scott McDonald is the first one that comes to mind.

McDonald wasn't a regular that season and certainly wasn't part of Mowbray's plans.
