    steven fletcher went for 3 times what stokes is goonna cost...he never scored as many as stokes!

    all im saying is you get what you pay for..

    stokes and hooper ! wow we are going backwards at a very fast rate !! stokes is awfull !! everybody is moaning that murphy is a waste of £1.5m yet he was 2 or 3 places ahead in the q to get a game at sunderland than stokes was. 1 goal in 25 apps in the championship on loan for palace and sheff utd. this is up there with the signing of mulgrew ! utterly embarrassing and a huge step backwards !!

    He isn't playing in the Championship so if you're wanting to pull out relevant stats then here they are;

    54 SPL games 36 SPL goals

    2 hat tricks in a week at Falkirk, 5 goals in 3 games with Hibs at the turn of the year, SPL goal of the year and 21 goals in last season including 2 against Celtic.

    Those are the relevant stats.

    He has scored 40+ goals in his two full seasons in the SPL for Falkirk and Hibs. Hopefully he will be even more prolific with better players around him, and he's only 22. Just wonder if Stokes and Hooper could play together though as they seem similar. If they clicked I think they could easily get 50 goals between them.

    Anyway, im all for his signing......Mon the Hoops.

    I think the timing of this deal is quite good.. People use his time at Sunderland against him and I've no doubt he'd completely lost his way down there and maybe if he'd come to us straight from them he'd have been a Riordan mark 2...
    He's had a chance to rebuild his career at Hibs , done a more than decent job for them and if he has looked after himself (fitness wise) then there's no reason he won't be a success with us..

    means nothing !! playing with spl teams is miles apart from playing with the old firm when you have 10 men behind the ball every game you play. killen had a good season at hibs before we signed him, riordon the same. when stokes got upped a level his goals dried up. he isnt good enough. nobody would touch him last summer as he is rubbish. who next we gonna sign?? craig dargo? john sutton?? jon daly?? absolute joke of a signing !!!

    Maybe he wasn't bought for Europe , maybe he was bought for the SPL and with a view to helping us qualify for Europe.. That is the bigger picture..

    Killen, Riordan, Dargo, Sutton and Daly don't have anywhere near the same goal to games ratio where are you pulling that comparison from?

    You are choosing to overlook statistics because it suits your argument. Stokes scores goals in the SPL, that is all that matters.

    maybe if we paid 4million on one striker instead of 3millon on 2 strikers we would still be in europe.

    wasnt bought for europe?...........honestly ,just dont get these type of posts.

    its not just stokes,its these average joe signings in general that * me off.

    he doesnt excite me at all personally but hey if hes signed ill fully back him his wages wont be too high and we have time and time again missed chance after chance if he can score these chances then why are we all moaning we need a goalscorer and thats what he is.

    who the * do you expect us to sign like ? were spl and our reputation is hit the skids the ast few years so its a decent sigining , number1 priority this year is the league , so buyng a player thats gets you 25 goals a year in this league is a no brainer ! especialy for just over a million !

    killen scored 16 goals in 25 apps for hibs. is that not the same ratio as stokes? how did he do for us? riordan , dargo , sutton and daly have all scored goals in the spl. if your happy signing bog standard spl players then fine but we are going backwards with signings like this. look at charlie mulgrew ! everybody was saying oh hes a decent spl player yet he looks like a fish out of water in the celtic team. signings like these is why we are going further and further back in europe. we will be lucky to ever see a europa league again never mind a champions league.
