  1. it wont be 2.4 million

  2. £2.4 mill for a 22 yr old striker isnt bad value for money mate, sure i read some where that it wasnt going to be that up front, will be that when all the add ons are completed.
The championship is a hard league mate take us and rangers away and its definately better than the spl

  3. We needed a hitman. The lack of one was what cost us the last two leagues
with Skippy, Jan and Sammy all misfiring. Gary Hooper may turn out to be the man.

  4. 2.4m for a championship striker with a year left on his contract?? :97:

  5. 2.4 ?

    Hefty fee

  6. I was just wondering what squad number Hooper will get and whether or not it will be the vacant number 7?

I think this signing could give us an indication as to whether or not we'll sign a high profile striker like Bellamy who could be our number 7 because if Hooper is given it then we can give up hope of getting in someone of Bellamy's calibre - but if not and Hooper gets a different number then you never know... you just never know

  7. He's not signed though. The Sun also said that 'Bullard is a Bhoy' last month

A guy on another forum is saying the fee is meant to be actually £1.6M

  8. fantastic :) he will be an excellent signing im sure

  9. positive signing.

  10. I'm hoping he turns into a Skippy type striker..

  11. I didnt really want this but wont knock him as i havent seen much of him, Hopefully we can still get a big name striker

I take it you mean because of the bragga game.
Am sure he will be eligible for the other ties ,& he might
qualify as the emergency/late signing that can play against
bragga ,unless that is classified as a goalkeeper.

All in all a good signing,he knows where the net is & has been
bought to come straight into the side:50:

  13. is it a done deal? have we had confirmation?if the boy signs
then lets judge him at the end of season 2010- 2011. 2011- 2012
etc. all the negative comments before a player has kicked a ball does
us no favours. history has shown us that now and then a gem appears
from nowhere, this just might be lennys time to produce a gem.

  14. I don't know anything about the guy except what I've just read from that link (scores a goal every 2 games) but I'd be happy enough with that.. If Strachan was also tracking Hooper and Strachan has already got 2 decent goalscorers in Boyd and McDonald who probably can't play as a partnership then I'd be thinking this guy is someone who's got a lot more to his game , maybe a Chris Sutton "type" who can do more than just score goals.. Im puting my faith in Lenny to assemble a team to be feared...

  15. 1 player can be registered up until 24 hours before the braga game to ensure a new signing is given the chance to play

True......if only we could ignore signing on fees, wages and resale value.

    It would be more like

    £4M extra transfer fee
    £1M extra signing on fees
40k extra per week over a 3-4 year contract, equaling anywhere between £6M and £8M.

Total = £11-13M more than bringing in Hooper.

Then at the end of it we'd have 33/34 year old striker with no resale value whatsoever.

Whereas with Hooper we should be able get most of the transfer fee back at the very least.
