The main problem with getting rid of the religious tension is that the Old Firm derby loses its edge over any other derby and just because another local game between 2 sides. Without the sectarian element, unfortunately, then it is just another derby. I'd like to see the back of sectarianism and being someone who doesn't believe in religion can't understand why people get so angry about it. Personally i do hate some Rangers fans due to singing songs like 'The Famine is over' as it affected large numbers of my family, as well as the Big Jock Knew *

My best mates, people I can really trust, are Rangers supporters. There are many great people on both sides of the Old Firm, likewise there is many bigots and idiots on both sides of the Old Firm.

To me, the rivalry has always been on footballing terms only.

There's a lot of Rangers supporters using terms which I dislike, such as FTP, WATP, BJN and so on. I could also admit though, there's a lot of Celtic supporters using terms to get at Rangers, which are nothing at all to do with football, therefore I dislike - such as FTQ, up the ra, etc.

I don't see why we need to find any other reason to dislike each other when we already have the footballing rivalry.

Both teams have many great songs they could sing at games, without bringing religion or anything like that into it (admittedly Celtic have more great songs but I might just be being biased).

I love Celtic and I hate Rangers but that's all I hate, Rangers as a football team, nothing else they may be associated with matters.

    That was a good watch.

And show of hands how many of you have best mates that are rangers fans.
I know I do. My best mate is a Rangers fan and I've got plenty more and they are all great lads. Not all huns are absolute * scum, there are some genuine fans out there that jus tsupport thier team and don't get drawn into the biggoted affairs. End of the day every support has arseholes and we sholdn't let that cloud judgement on a certain people. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely hate the Rangers but I don't hate very fan coz they are huns.
So well done to all who put their hatred aside for good. It's a shame it took the death of a legend to do so.

There are some Bigots and sectarians in our support. But, contrary to what the Media say, we have far less than Scotlands Shame do. The belief in a United Ireland is not Sectarian. But the hatered of Catholics/ Protestants is. Not many of our support boast of hating one or the other. Shame i cannot say the same for a large majority of the Rangers "Faithful".

Fair play mate, this really is a top thread :50:

I will and always will hate Rangers as a football team, I support 3 teams and thats it, Celtic top, Sunderland because of my roots and the team that plays Rangers.

Every team has good and bad amonst them, every football team in this world. The huns have some fans * bent on causing as much trouble as they can, they also have a father in that crowd cheering on his team with his son's and will enjoy the rivalry and go home at FT causing no harm to anyone, exactly the same goes for us.

The Sunderland, Newcastle derby is considered up there with the biggest in the world, I know its different because of the religion involved with the OF derby but still the two sides hate everything the other stood for, when Bobby Robson died the whole north east mourned him, not just the Newcaslte fans, it nearly brought a tear to my eye watching the two sets of fans unite in grief. Very similar circumstances for Tommy, I felt that Rangers conducted themselves well, I gained alot of respect for McCoist and Smith that day.

Imo, hating the Rangers team is acceptable, hating the club causes nothing but bad things. We need Rangers, just like they need us, the spl would die without Rangers and Celtic, Scottish football would go be really damaged if Celtic or Rangers were relegated, (Not going to happen but you see my point)

Imagine looking at the fixtures and the only derby we have is Hearts, I would be gutted if this was ever reality.

I love watching the tackles and the drama on a match day, I love Rangers getting beat and seeing the fans get wound up as well as the players, I love seeing the Rangers fans go quiet when we scorea cracker, I hate Rangers but fans from both sides must watch this video and look beyond the hating part.

I can honestly say I don't have one hun in my mobile phone address book, whether it's just coincidence I don't know.

Until they stop insulting my heritage, ancestors, religion, our greatest ever manager and pretty much everything I am and stand for, sorry bhoys, they can go * themselves, and no nice video will change that for me.

Death can temporarily unite a few people across the divide, but it won't change over a hundred years of hatred.

I don't think you should tar every Rangers fan with the same brush.

I'm sure there are Rangers fans embarrassed and ashamed about a section of Rangers supporters insulting heritage, ancestors, religion and our greatest every manager. Just like we're ashamed if a Celtic supporters insults Protestants for example, the majority of us feel ashamed and would not appreciate being tarred with the same brush.

I feel a bit embarrassed myself posting this, I feel as if I'm fighting the corner for the decent Rangers fans out there. I think you're over-looking the fact that there are many decent human beings, who just happen to support Rangers Football Club.

Like I said my most trusted mates are Rangers supporters, some of which are truly great people who would do anything for you. This is why I have learned not to tar all the Rangers fans, with the same brush as you would with the 'Huns' that spout things against religion and so on.

So what exactly do you suggest I should change out of curiosity?

Do these friends of yours sing 'the famine song' and 'billy boys'?

I think the answer to the first question, is in the first line of my post.

No. As I said, you're tarring every Rangers supporter with the same brush and assuming they all sing such songs.

the huns in the occupied six are different, in scotland, they simply have political views different to us, in northern ireland, they deal drugs, kill innocent people and have a political ideology of a two year old

my dad told me of (i think) either an australian reporter, or one of his friends or something, i cant remember who told it to him but at an orange "walk" a kid asked his dad, "are we english" to which the dad replied "no, but were better than the taigs (fenians, not 100% sure, it was one of the two)"

you kinda have to separate the scottish huns and the "british" huns because they are two different types of ideologies altogether

one being as i stated before, being criminals, glorifying the killings of innocent people, and dealing drugs, and the other simply liking a football team and being unionist

I don't 'like sectarianism' at all, I just happen to be of irish descent and Catholic, meaning everything that lot stand for and sing discriminates against me.

No olive branch here, as I've said before, if Lloyds decide enough's enough, I will happily help close their manky * gates for the last time.
